Re: Catholicism

I just wanted to address the original post and say that a simple google search would have sufficed to answer silly little questions like did the Catholic Church alter the 10 Commandments. Is that really necessary? Altering the Ten Commandments is hardly a 'silly little question'? My first post I ac...

Re: Kent Hovind - Powerful evidence for a young earth

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szBTl3S24MY He messed up badly on minute 52. First he called Carl Sagan Carl Pagan and then he called National Geographic National... well I will let you look it up. LOL but it's probably bad to laugh about... Been watching a lot of Hovind's stuff of late and from wha...

Re: Catholicism

No you are not the only one, Stu. Can you give me a genuine link to these claims? Sorry no link that I could say is official or genuine. Think I'll pop into my local library and do an actual book by book comparison. Been a bit busy lately so haven't had a chance to respond properly to some of the o...

Re: Catholicism

A reminder please, discussion and disagreement in the area of denominations, or other branches of Christendom is fine, and part of why this forum exists. Demonizing or jumping on other branches which goes beyond addressing issues and begins to stereotype entire groups of people is not in keeping wi...

Re: Catholicism

You do realize that RC do NOT worship saints or Mary, right? Praying to them to interceed ( which I disagree with) is not the same as worship. Fair enough, though doesn't praying to saints to intercede not also go against scripture. RC do NOT worship any idols either by the way. Never said they did...

Catholicism

First off let me say my intention is not to deliberately offend any members who might be Roman Catholics (though I fear it might), but from what I can see the Roman Catholic church has a lot to answer for. Bottom line is we are all Christians first and anything that seeks to harm Christianity or cor...

Re: The Epicurean paradox

I think that the evidence does show that death existed before adam, afterall the animals of the world are designed around the concept of death. I´m not sure that creation of the world equals our existence in the garden of Eden either. physical death cannot be a result of sin. Also remember God crea...

Re: The Epicurean paradox

@Empty Lord I think you are also applying some selective reasoning here. Remember, and this is critical, that when God created the world it was not as we experience it today, he created it without sin. It was a blissful existence in the garden of Eden. That changed when Eve chose to eat of the fruit...

Re: The Epicurean paradox

To your fourth, I personally view good and evil as two perceptions a human being can have, they're both values. Whether you find one or the other morally correct is up the beholder one might view as stealing as a virtue and morally correct, while the latter (normal people) will view that as a crime...

Re: The Epicurean paradox

"God loves you" If so, whence come pain, sorrow and evil? For all who preach here, I give you Epicurus "Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is wicked. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he...

Re: Christopher Hitchens passed away

You are a better Christian than I, Stu, because a part of me feels sweet justice whenever I hear something like this happen. Yes, I think it's sad he may never know the glory of God, but he did have free will just like the rest of us, and he chose to live his life as a bigot. Though, I also agree t...

Re: Christopher Hitchens passed away

It is this that makes people think we live by blind faith. Hell is not some arbitrary place that God arbitrarily puts people into when reject him. It is the Power given to our creation(Free Will) that is absolutly respectful to us. The choice to submit to God and the choice to reject him must be po...

Re: Christopher Hitchens passed away

I think one of the many mistakes atheists make is in thinking Christians take delight in telling folks they might be going to hell. I was having a very heated debate with someone on another forum surrounding this very topic. Now I know there are some Christians who do get up on their pedestal, but f...

Re: Christopher Hitchens passed away

Gman wrote:I think it is very sad that Hitchens didn't really know what he was attacking. In others words he didn't really understand that he was attacking the G-d of love. A G-d who truly loved him and died for him.

Unfortunately many many people fail to see this point...
Amen to that.

Re: Christopher Hitchens passed away

Saw this on another site: Hitchens gave short shrift to the "insulting" suggestion that cancer might persuade him to change his position where reason had not, arguing that to ditch principles "held for a lifetime, in the hope of gaining favour at the last minute" would be a "...
