Re: Yeah, Mr. Hawking passed away, and...

Fear of hell CAN NOT be the driving force to bring someone to God.
Sounds too much like a "ends justifies the means" view.

Re: The Toolbox argument against Intelligent Design

Paul: Genesis states that Man, like all other animals came from the earth. But that's an incomplete statement, as man was made AFTER the animal kingdom was completed, and in the image of God, as opposed to how the animals were created, each after it's own kind. Scripturally, there is a huge disconn...

Re: The Toolbox argument against Intelligent Design

Genesis states that Man, like all other animals came from the earth. That all living creatures have similar building blocks is a given. That some or even all, would have a "common ancestor" is also feasible. To me, what needs to be explained is not that random mutations occur BUT WHY and HOW living ...

Re: The Toolbox argument against Intelligent Design

So, where do we draw the line at what is and isn't a different species ? I tried to address this in an earlier post, but I don't see the concept of species as a causal agent in evolution. What we identify as species are associated with common traits that are observable at the macro level and the po...

Re: The Toolbox argument against Intelligent Design

Science has shown that changes HAPPEN and that those changes can lead to adaptations that can further lead to what may be considered a different species. The issue is, really, perception of species. Take dogs, all of the same species but different breeds( German Sheppard and retrievers). Wolves are ...

Re: The Toolbox argument against Intelligent Design

In terms of the creation of a new species, well, that is tricky because while we can observe the "creation" of a new strain of malaria, for example, is that a new "species" or is it a different type of malaria? or are we simply "spliting hairs'? I think Behe's focus on what is occurring at the mole...

Re: The Toolbox argument against Intelligent Design

The issue with evolution, for some, is that IF evolution means simply "change over time" ( which is does) then it explains changes and adaptations ( even if we can't fully explain the how, much less the why) but doesn't explain the development of new species, especially since there isn't even full c...

Re: Orthodox Church Split

The reason there MUST be a separation of church and state is because politics and religion are not suitable bedfellows, especially in this day and age.
This has zero to do with doctrine and all to do with politics.

Re: Sounds like Al was not a big fan of God.

God gives all equal access to the HS so that all may have the choice to accept or reject Him. God can't play "favorites" or "pre-ordain anyone to destruction" because that would go against His nature of love. That said, God KNOWS who will or will not accept Him and he is under NO obligation to exten...

Re: The Toolbox argument against Intelligent Design

this is why most people agree with theistic/deistic evolution Well, misunderstanding or ignorance of evolution is rather common. Nils Not necessarily ignorance of how it works, just that it makes sense for someone to "help" get evolution going here and there. Not even that, it can simply be a case ...

Re: Sounds like Al was not a big fan of God.

The only "karma" that applies to a Christian is what "goes around comes around" and the understanding that God judges ALL. The reason that very smart people MAY not seek God ( many do of course), is because to seek God is to give faith and trust unto another and most of the higher intelligence group...

Probably why when the Big Bang theory came out, he went bat-shit, LOL.
Einstein had no idea what God is, I think that if he had pout as much time into understanding what God is as he had with his other theories, he probably would have understood God far better.

Re: No comments on Kavanaugh???

Sure, I agree with that. But it's important to also remember that sexual harassment and sexual assault are extremely common and are most often unreported, specifically because the victim doesn't want to be subjected having her life put under a microscope, her motivation questioned, and her behavior...

Re: No comments on Kavanaugh???

According to some, the court of public opinion is the only one the matters. You still haven't told me how any of this is supposed to work. Whatever. It seems like what you want is for me to admit that everyone is treating Kavanaugh very unfairly and they should give him the benefit of the doubt, bu...
