Re: Top Ten Reasons I'm An Atheist

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. That's a rather extraordinary claim. Please provide your extraordinary evidence to support it. It sounds like a typical subjective claim to me; why does it sound extraordinary to you? Ken As opposed to what Kenny, an objective claim? Yes! as oppo...

Re: Job 38:14 says earth is flat?

From super top-secret footage just released by Wikileaks: https://i0.wp.com/windowscustomization.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/flat-earth.gif?fit=750%2C341&quality=80&strip=all&ssl=1&w=640 I'm stunned to find this out! But I only have one question - how come the water doesn't just spill out? y:-? ...

As you know I don’t believe there is such a thing as the spiritual world;
In which case you're gonna have a real tough time explaining intentionality or, at minimum, your own mind.

You have that exactly backwards. You assume logic first, then you conclude God. But you already knew that (or at least should have known).

Re: N.Y. adopts law allowing abortion up to nine months

The rest is all personal opinion and based upon arbitrary definitions and whatever one thinks is appropriate. Yes, as an atheist that, together with reasoning, is all that is available. The massive problem you have is that reason necessarily leads to both a pro life stance (from the proper metaphys...

Re: N.Y. adopts law allowing abortion up to nine months

As I described in my first post #17, I know that Christians also have other reasons but the religious arguments and I am well acquainted with those arguments but I have noticed that Christians generally are more against abortion that atheists so I think the Christian arguments are of general intere...

Re: N.Y. adopts law allowing abortion up to nine months

Thanks Byblos, I appreciate the links. I am familiar with the Natural Law Theory and think it’s a sound philosophy but I’ve always been quite alarmed how people use that for their own spiritual shortcomings. In regards to suicide and the hypocrisy of capital punshiment. People take a “theory” or ph...

Re: Proof of God: "I want PROOF!"

Can you provide metaphysical proof of something else concerning the physical world that does not include God? I'm not a philosophy expert, but maybe the Law of Non-Contradiction. The idea that something can't be both "X" and "not X" at the same time? But I think that falls under the category of one...

Re: Proof of God: "I want PROOF!"

Kenny wrote: Metaphysical proof? Metaphysics is philosophy. Philosophy doesn’t provide proof, it asks questions, and raises the possibility of different concepts, that may eventually lead to answers; but physical proof isn’t going to be solved via metaphysics or any other branch of philosophy. I ca...

Re: Proof of God: "I want PROOF!"

All the other religions have something about it that is totally incompatible with Christian beliefs; how does this point you made refute what I said? Reason alone necessarily leads to monotheism (A). From there it's reason coupled with revelation that lead to B. You're forever conflating the 2, hen...

Re: N.Y. adopts law allowing abortion up to nine months

I was trying to do a little research before responding to this. What I can see from what I've read, this law leaves too much up in the air, with how the woman's "health" is defined. Exactly. That was the intention. Allow for abortion at whim and mask it in the veil of health risks. I am ashamed Cuo...
