Re: Atheist: "Do I take my child to church?"

Science is based upon verifiable evidence. I came to understand that my beliefs were without rational justification and without evidentiary support. I reverted to the null hypothesis: There is no god. I have yet to find any convincing evidence to reject the null hypothesis. Simple as that.. A simpl...

Digital evolution... Really?

I just started into this one last night, but words fail me as to why this experiment should be remotely compelling. Is this what passes for evidence these days? The study is headed by Richard Lenski, and purports to demonstrate the evolution of complex features using digital code. Here's the abstrac...

Re: The reason i'm not christian, maybe someone can explain?

i'm sorry that i don't like to sweep the problems under the rug. I see. So you post links from other people for us to respond to, rather than engage in a conversation with us personally about what you and we believe -- rather impolite I'd say. Even so, since you don't like to sweep the problems und...

Re: Narcissism

recently I was pinned down in presenting the Personal God hypothesesis when I was charged that the idea was narcissistic in nature. An investigation of the Biblical claims might be helpful: The Ten Commandments The Two Great Commandments Jesus washing the feet of the disciples (servant-leadership) ...

Re: ID/Evolution and Michael Behe

Zoe, appreciate what you are saying, but not really what I'm driving at. I understand that evolution has no goal. But anyone, including Darwinists will speak of the function of the eye, kidney, etc. Yet recognizing function is standing on teleological grounds. That is taboo territory. Function indi...

Re: I must be getting alittle paranoid

Just an off-topic question... but after reading the comments it came across my mind. Who hijacked the term 'fundamental' and made it into a bad word? Shouldn't we all want to be true to the fundamentals of our belief system? It's just one of an almost limitless number of infectious political schema...

Re: I am forced to love God (if he exists)

I was really, really annoyed to read this... I remember back them I was single, without a girlfriend... I thought : "Hell, if somebody tells me something like what Jesus said, I wouldn't want to have anything with him, I would tell him to get away from me"... Zvez, If for the sake of disc...

Re: I am forced to love God (if he exists)

An atheist would immediately claim that a moral creature would never create such tests. And an immoral one would not create all life and a magnificent universe in which they might life. He would also not give the greatest possible sacrifice toward saving them from self-inflicted death. - Nathan

Re: ID/Evolution and Michael Behe

You see there are some elements within nature (like DNA) that resemble manmade, or intelligently designed, objects. I don"t know if it started with Stephen Meyer, but I am interested in the arguments for describing genetic code as "information". Naturally, as a creationist I would te...

I think you should, because I have no idea what you mean, and don't agree to boot.

Re: Negation of Free Will

Would knowing without a doubt that God exists really negate free will? ... However, I am having trouble giving up my sins. This is a very important question, but also very heavily loaded given your honest confession. I'll offer up the following collection of answers to your question: 1. Peter's den...

Re: ID/Evolution and Michael Behe

That is where the science ends. And that is precisely the problem. Science is elevated from a tool to a universal truth, equated with rationality, and (mis)used as a means of political authority. Reason assigns little validity to the assertions and fruits of creativity in logic or art - how much le...
