Re: The Hebrew meaning of Faith

It's a stretch, but from my perspective looking at this term used in context in the New Testament doesn't really cause that much variation. After all, simply knowing that Christ died for us isn't enough to invoke salvation -- even the demons know, says the Bible. It is from the act of accepting God'...

Re: Clothing Laws?

It isn't that we are not under the law. Christ's coming established the new covenant, which replaced (Or enhanced? Or transformed?) the one God established with Israel. I don't have verses at hand, but I am sure someone might be able to help out!

Re: His days shall be an hundred and twenty years

Actually, I always interpreted this passage to the effect of there being 120 years until the Flood began. It took Noah a while to build that ark.

Re: Why care about Science if Christianity is true?

Because it's what we do with the time that we have that counts. God gave us curious minds and innovative thoughts for a reason.... It's up to us to use them. Besides, there are differing opinions on the End Times -- what they are and when they will happen -- and because of that we don't need to worr...

Re: Evolution and Intelligent Design

Now, this post is about Evolution and Intelligent Design, right? I assume that the argument is concerning whether evolution or ID is the "correct" explanation for why we are here. Now, I will pose a couple questions to fuel thought: - Can elements of both evolution and ID be true together? - And ano...

Re: Evolution and Intelligent Design

Really guys? I've gone over this thread, and I can see nothing but posts that call each other stupid, ignore points and attack each other's arguments without giving them much thought. We can do better than this! Why don't we try actually coming to agreements every now and then, and even supporting t...

Re: Philosophy in General

They weren't so much questions that I personally wanted answered, I was just trying to spark a discussion  For me, I feel that we've been given enough to make our choices and come to faith, but that everything about the Bible and God's plan won't necessarily make sense to us until we can pu...

Philosophy in General

I often have the feeling that trying to over-think about philosophy and predict future events (e.g. the End Times) is rather like being in the process of reading a very large book... one of those thick historical fiction novels, like a Charles Dickens book. While you read it, the plot takes so long ...

Salvation

Do you think it is possible for someone to be saved even after death? Could a non-believer, for instance, or someone who had not committed themselves to Christ and died still choose to follow God, or accept his grace?

Is there any scripture on this issue?

Re: Are those with an intellectual belief saved?

Salvation is a gift from God by means of Christ. To obtain it, you need to accept Christ. If you believe in Jesus, but refuse to accept him, then you are like the demons, who believe but shudder. Although, I don't think that there are many such cases in the world... it is not all too common to belie...

I'm sorry if you think that we are trying to put you down... I promise we don't mean to! We are just stating our beliefs as you state yours. Just so happens that this site is hosted by those of our beliefs... :ewink:

Re: Why does christianity contradict itself so much?

Education, you often repeat the question of whether or not we believe in every verse in the Bible. Of course we do! But the Bible is not a rule-book of what we arbitrarily must and must not do, it is a collection of historical documents and letters. You quote about Hebrew law from Deuteronomy very o...

Re: Who gets into Heaven?

Ivellious, I understand why you are confused. In order to get into heaven, you need to have yourself transformed into a sinless creature... in other words, both your ability and desire to sin must be taken away. God has offered to do this for us through his son, Jesus Christ... basically, our sins, ...

Re: Christ not the only way to God

On that note, what if Christ is the only way to enlightenment, and it is your tyrannical belief that there are other ways to do so? In enforcing such a belief and preventing people from spreading the faith, you'd be unwittingly condemning thousands who might have welcomed Christ if given the chance.
