Re: Solomon

I would say, look at his father David. Here was a man who lusted after a married women, committed adultery, sent her husband into battle, and ordered that he be put on the front lines to be killed. Yet he was " a man after Gods own heart "... Kristoffer wrote: Don't you think he missed th...

Re: Being saved from what? For what?

Thanks for the thoughtful response CSLL !! I do want to hear what others think. I have read the Bible, from cover to cover, and continue to read. I have also read many commentaries. One of my favorite Bibles is one that a great friend of mine gave me, an archeology study Bible (NIV). I enjoy the his...

Re: Being saved from what? For what?

Thanks Gman! Good stuff. I am a believer, so I have been turning from sin and self. It is an ongoing struggle, as I'm sure you know, but a worthwhile struggle indeed! My question is more one of what our hope as Christians is. Do we currently have a warped sense of future in Gods new heaven & ear...

Being saved from what? For what?

I am wrestling with the issue of our hope for the future. The name of the subject; Being saved from what? For what? Is a quote from N.T. Wright's book Surprised by Hope. In his book he raises some interesting questions, this being one of them. If we reframe the answers to these questions, we begin t...

Re: Children of God are Born Again with Eternal Life

Truthman, Consider the following verses in Romans 8:22,23,24,25 22We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption ...

Re: Vegetarian dinosaurs?

I'm normally a strong advocate of the Day-age theory, however, a professor recently brought this verse(<A class=lbsBibleRef href="http://bible.logos.com/passage/esv/Genesis%201.30" target=_blank lbsReference="Genesis 1.30|ESV">Genesis 1:30</A>) to my attention: "'And to all...

Re: Children of God are Born Again with Eternal Life

Truthman, I understand your argument, and there is no question that our Heavenly Father wishes us to have eternal life. I do wonder, however, what you do with Scriptures like Heb 6:4,5,6.? 4It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared ...

Re: Can Christians believe in evolution?

Thanks for the reply narnia4. The subject then turns to scripture, to Genesis, and we get into the debate about the creation story being literal or not. As for me, my faith is not shaken by the possability of the creation story not being literal. It seems possable that what Moses recorded in the cre...

Can Christians believe in evolution?

Re: Son of Man

thanx guys but i forgot why Jesus had to be born of a virgin, couldnt the sin nature also come from Mary? Or Jesus got his Man "genes" from her ? The sin nature of man is said to be passed down from Adam ( the Adamic seed ), so to be born of a virgin would be to come from a womb that neve...
