Re: When it comes to science...

Christian: A person who believes themselves to be a Christian. Scientist: A person who seeks knowledge of the physical world through observation and experimentation. Relative disadvantage? Intelligence? Bias? Strange comparisons, really. Unless, of course, a conflict of interest is inevitable. Perha...

Perhaps not eye-for-eye, but harsh punishment for the slave owner, nonetheless - having to give up a slave.

Re: Open Science Discussin about GOD's Existence

Coldblood, the first or necessary cause makes perfect logical sense, what doesn't make sense is an infinite regress of causes. Peter Kreeft points this out brilliantly in his first cause or necessary being. http://www.peterkreeft.com/topics/first-cause.htm I have always referred to this because it ...

Re: Open Science Discussin about GOD's Existence

-----------1. Nothing exists without a pre-existing cause. -----------2. God exists without a pre-existing cause. -----------Both can’t be true? *In the form you presented it you would be correct. It's just that what you presented is in fact NOT what theists claim, which would be something like this...

Re: Open Science Discussin about GOD's Existence

*The law of contradiction says that a statement and its negation can't be both true and at the same time.*

I would guess that would be something like:

1. Nothing exists without a pre-existing cause.
2. God exists without a pre-existing cause.

Both can’t be true?

Re: Science article about evangelicals and catholics

Perhaps anyone who considers themself to be a Christian, and who devoutly follows the teachings of Christ to the best of their understanding (and take their word for it), should be recognized and accepted as a Christian. That is, should any person who faithfully follows Christ to the light that has...

Re: Evolution and Intelligent Design

Pierson5, You should weigh the voluminous and incontrovertible arguments put forth by ID scientists against the meager evidence proposed by non-ID proponents, (as if you haven’t already). Of course when you say “ID proponents” you probably should be able to detect that their argument for design is ...

Re: Transgenders and so on

Ivellious Those born with no sex organs or both sex organs may be able to choose a gender path if they are lucky and so inclined; and, if they are fortunate enough to find an intimate relationship, the public is generally empathetic toward them. However, people who feel they are born with the wrong...

Re: Is God a material thing?

I find interesting the references that seem to refer to God as plural; this would imply something one could point to and count. Of course there is the 1 John 5:7 example that says the THREE are one; and the Genesis 1:26 Let us make man in OUR image, in OUR likeness; but also two more Genesis refere...
