Re: Did Nazareth Exist?

Thanks for responding. I'm not trying to deny its existence, but I was watching videos of Randi on other topics where he made logical conclusions from science. Obviously everyone has bias, and he can be bias against religion, but I just want truth.

Did Nazareth Exist?

I just saw this video from James Randi which is a few years old, talking about the lack of evidence for Nazareth actually existing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSzQC1zKesU I was wondering if there is any evidence that goes against that, since in many other videos of Randi, I've seen him as a logi...

Monogamy vs Open Relationships

I've been doing quite a bit of research on open relationships recently, and why they seem to be, "on the rise". Most statistics I've seen seem to show open relationships failing, due to the jealousy, time-committment, and drifting apart of the main couple. There are people that defend it, however, s...

Re: 10,000 Year Old Mammoth

Are you getting at any particular angle here? Because to me it just seems like a really cool discovery for our understanding of early human civilization and also for our understanding of mammoths in general. I just thought dinosaurs and humans didn't co-exist, unless a mammoth isn't considered a di...

Re: Atheist: "Do I take my child to church?"

Of course. But there is a difference. You see, because of your worldview, I doubt you see any difference between science and Darwinism. The scientific process can be practiced by anyone. Yet you probably see no line of division. Science is Darwinism and Darwinism is science. Of course I disagree, a...

Re: The Church

Does anyone else feel as if churches are getting more and more....I don't how to say it....corrupt?? Or cult like? I tested out several different churches in my town, and they all were either really..ritual...or cult like. I don't see much passion in them, they just seem like a leader ,or more, dir...

Re: Being a virgin for money value?

Well to be fair, did I ever present my opinion on the matter? I mean, I never said that valuing virginity was bad or good...Though since you present such a broad case, let me respond. Yes, there are risks to recreational sex, but to be fair it's also possible to get STDs, get pregnant before you're...

Re: Being a virgin for money value?

Yep, not convinced. And sadly, I see soo many teenagers who have bought into the casual sex myth so often, being broken in their mid-twenties. It doesn't work and it's not supposed to. And the fact that they are being sold this idea that casual and empty sex is better than waiting is unfortunate. F...

Being a virgin for money value?

I was recently in a discussion with an atheist who talked about virginity only being valued in the Bible because a virgin daughter would be worth more value as a marriage partner, and how she would practically be sold off. This seems illogical and irrational to me, so I was just wondering where they...

If evolution is true, shouldn't our world be like Futurama?

I've been thinking about this. There are millions of species, yet we are the only one capable of (or evolved , if you will) the ability to be self-aware and moral. Why, if there are millions of species capable of the same evolutionary ability, and we all started out at a similar time, is our world n...

A Difference in Perspective (Religious vs Non-Religious)

Let me start out by saying I've always been interested in why some people will fight so hard for there not to be a God, and others to fight hard to prove there is one. I have always been somewhat in-between, being raised in a Christian grade-school, falling away from faith in high school, and growin...

Re: Key Points For/Against Evolution

I guess more of what I'm saying is, why do so many atheists select evolution as their main argument to God not being real? What is it in evolution that they are so sure about? On a side topic, a majority of my friends are atheistic/agnostic, and I seem to find that they are generally sad/depressed w...
