Re: Quake reveals day of Jesus crucifixion

Interesting stuff, Gman. I'm kinda amazed that they can trace earthquakes back to a specific date.

And, FYI, April 3, 33 AD, is the precise date that Harold Camping first predicted the end of the world. :ewink:

Yes, one needs a higher authority for clearance. :pound:
Hana, most of us just try to get close enough to touch Jac's robe. But, you actually got authority to talk to him. Tell us, what was that like? :pound: :pound: 8-}2

What about Mermans? What kind of assurance do they have?

Re: "Works"

Getting back to the topic of this thread, "works", I have something else to say. I reread a thread a while back, and something that Felgar(I believe) said, hit home with me. With help from what he said, I came up with this: One is saved by God's grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. Now, s...

Re: "Works"

But, genuine, saving faith is either genuine or it isn't. And if one has had genuine saving faith, then the Bible assures that He will be saved to the end. The person who thought he had genuine faith (to later discover he didn't) also thought he had assurance (to later discover he didn't). This per...

Re: "Works"

A great deal of this has to do with how one views the character and nature of God. If God is a distant, calculating deity who sits from afar and takes on the role of a judge in a courtroom looking for technicalities and issues based upon which He then chooses to cast people away from Him then that ...

Re: "Works"

If you allow for 1) to be a possibility then you do not believe in absolute assurance. You can say the indwelling of the HS gives you this assurance all you want but the fact is that person who did not turn out to be a true believer actually and honestly believed he was a true believer at some poin...

Re: Please Introduce Yourself Here

Um, greetings. Sorry, I've been watching the forums and been rather reluctant to join, but when I did, I was hesitant to speak up. I'm not the most social of people at this time, so I'm a bit shy, oddly enough. Even so, this seems like a nice community with plenty of intellectual debates and learni...

Re: Acts 13:48

Now its very becoming obvious that we're going in circles here, whether we have complete understanding of each other or not isn't as obvious. If Calvinism is true, then your interpretation of the verse is wrong (and same goes for me if Calvinism is false). I don't think of John 3:16 as a verse that...
