Re: US Withdrawing from Syria

K: I find it disgusting and dangerous when governments start using "God" or "the Lord" as a tool.
I'd say that when God IS using someone as a tool - especially one not particularly following and trying to obey Him - they are likely not aware of it.

Former Atheists' Journeys to Faith in Christ

Here John Woodbridge discusses his journey from unbelief to faith, and that of other former atheists: https://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2018/february-web-only/why-christian-theology-needs-former-atheists.html Interesting thing is, how diverse atheists have been in both their backgrounds and their...

INSANE! An 84-year old athlete and pole vaulter

OK, all you couch potatoes - take a look at this lady! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NG0TEf21ZE

At an age where most are worried about falls, she deliberately seeks them out. Wow.

Re: Top Ten Reasons I'm An Atheist

Morny, what I do know is that the Big Bang event had to be started, created, designed by an eternal, INTELLIGENT Source. Non-intelligent things simply cannot do even simple things requiring intelligence - there are zero examples of such. And non-intelligent things do not and cannot seek intelligence...

Former Atheist and MIT Professor Found Christ

This is an interesting article about a person, once a great skeptic and atheist, and her journey to faith in Christ. Today, she is a professor at MIT. https://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2019/april/rosalind-picard-mit-professor-meets-author-knowledge.html Here are a few interesting quotes the artic...

Is the traditional pastor's sermon sufficient?

This article ( https://www.christianitytoday.com/edstetzer/2019/march/should-we-rethink-30-minute-sermon-lecture.html ) asks some thought-provoking questions about the tradition of churches and their sermons. Of course, the sermon is very important. But is the focus not often too much one-way? Looki...

Re: A Confession

Yes, Annette, to echo Byblos, we know it took considerable courage to fess up. And I'm thankful you think enough of us that it was important for you to do so. We otherwise wouldn't have realized it - and you could have just kept quiet. But it's often when we keep quiet after we've screwed up that th...

Re: A Confession

Annette, depression changes everything - I know, because my dad had it and it was horrific. I don't know that you ever said anything was actually terminal. But no matter, you weren't in a good spot, and I'm just thankful you're okay. We love you around here - have missed and wondered about you. BTW,...

Re: Top Ten Reasons I'm An Atheist

Morny: As a simple start to form a basis for mutual agreement, would you agree that physics has a clear understanding of the path from the emergence of that quark-gluon plasma to the generation of almost all the elements in the periodic table generated from the first few generations of stars? LOL, ...

I'm told Byblos once met Raymond Burr at a Dairy Queen back in the late '50s  !

I'm too young to remember colorless TV shows! :esmile:

Re: Aliens?

Well, here's the thing, IF aliens somewhere in the universe had sent out signals of contact, it's doubtful that they'd ever reach us. In fact, it would take so long to reach us, that there is a good chance their civilization had long ago died out. Consider the factual statements found within this Ne...
