Re: Shroud of Turin - Summary of Evidence for its Authenticity

Bip, the problem is that Jesus never established some Popehood or clerical hierarchy as the Roman Church asserts. There has been corruption there for many centuries. That this present pope is trying to legitimize homosexuality should be no surprise. He's all about leftist politics and trying to make...

Re: Arguements Against Classical Theism or Deism?

Seraph: ven though historians generally agree that Jesus that human figure existed, it is definitely not true that historians on the whole agree that the events recorded in the gospels are all completely factual. What is in the Gospels and the New Testament about Jesus do you think are not historic...

Re: What do you guys think about this route to marriage?

BTW, Rick - if a church is solid in its teachings, doctrine and habits, leading people to Christ, and it is growing large - well, that's a very good thing. I think there's a great big church where we're heading!

Re: What do you guys think about this route to marriage?

I doubt seriously if you guys read the article. Big churches can be good, too (don't know about this one). I know, because I grew up in one. But this one mandates FIRST "11 weeks of intensive marriage counseling, a married couple to mentor them for the next year." And apparently they have to be a be...

What do you guys think about this route to marriage?

Re: Did Hawking strengthen the case for God?

Oh, yes, the irony! Hawking’s last musings on the theorized multiverse argues for strict limits to the kinds of universes that would have populated such multiple universes. But if that is the case, and the universes of such a multiverse “were” governed by, as Hawking and his co-writer suggest, the S...

Bip, problem with that video is that its long on speculation but short on examinable facts.

Story, to get some Biblically grounded and very interesting ideas about what Heaven will be like, get Randy Alcorn's book, "Heaven": https://www.amazon.com/Heaven-Alcorn-Randy-ebook/dp/B000FCKCJC Our flesh and bodies now are decaying, as is the earth and all of it's wear and tear, and things about i...

Re: Arguements Against Classical Theism or Deism?

Seraph: ... if God already knows exactly whats going to happen, and ALWAYS knew exactly what was going to happen, why get angry when it happens exactly as he had foreseen? If God getting angry has only to do with the transgression He is upset over - then the timing of it is irrelevant to HIM. Now, ...

Re: Arguements Against Classical Theism or Deism?

Seraph: Anger for example is not something Id expect to be part of the experience of a perfect being, because it would've planned everything in such a way that everything unfolds according to its will and so there would be no need for anger on its part. Ah, so you'd expect Him to have created robot...

Re: Arguements Against Classical Theism or Deism?

Seraph: Just an aside but I also think a maximally great being would look extremely different from the entity described in the early chapters of Genesis as well as Exodus.
Let me guess - you think He would behave and think much more like a man?

Re: Atheist question

Ken: Personally I find it absurd to assume that just because we see order and structure as a human construct on Earth, that it has to be for the entire Universe. As far as our argument about what is possible without an intelligence, the systems, laws, biological life, and huge list of things of imme...

Re: Atheist question

Ken: Information is in everything. Information does not cause anything. That is staggeringly naive! EVERY biological entity on this planet is whatever it is - a man, fruitfly, porcupine or a banana, etc. - because of its unique, massively long string of its uniquely arranged DNA coding, and how it'...
