Re: Evidence for theistic evolution
Paul & Philip, The main thrust of your posts seem to be derived from the metaphysics of Aristotle/Aquinas. A sort of first mover, sustainer or uncaused cause. Whilst I don't find the metaphysical propositions put forward by either gentleman particularly convincing as yet, I can follow the logic ...

Re: Nicknames
We have a wooden dummy too, it gets a lot of use, as does the punchbag  Absolutely love it, tried a few martial arts and this was the one that really gripped me. It`s more than just a martial art, it`s a life lesson! What grade are you? We are all going for our second tech soon, scary, sca...

Re: Evidence for theistic evolution
Bippy, Now if as doctor David berlinski says, if natural selection and random variation were the main mechanisms then we should be able to see this evidence in lab experiments , but in fact we see the opposite . We see inherent species limitations . A bacteria stays a bacteria , a fruit fly stays a ...

Re: Evidence for theistic evolution
Bippy, I'm trying not to appeal to popularity but to practical utility and explanatory power. Microevolution, a term which I'm not too fond of, is observable, testable & somewhat predictable. On the small scale, which almost all seem to agree with, it unites all life in a common language, if we ...

Re: Evidence for theistic evolution
Darwinism is what we call a historic science and since from our experience we have only seen specified complex information arising from only a mind , the burden is on the Darwinian (notice I said Darwinian Rick, you made a good point ;) ) evolutionists must prove beyond a shadow of doubt that natur...

Re: Evidence for theistic evolution
I wrote on this 10 years ago, before Judge Jones had ruled: As for Dover, PA board of education introducing ID into the science curriculum... this is not a move by mainstream ID advocates. For example, the Discovery Institute were deeply opposed to what happened there, and even requested the board ...

Not sure where this came from either but on the subject Sister Elaine MacInnes is one such person. There a nice wee youtube clip of her story over heresciencebusiness wrote:I've never heard a Christian say Guatama Budda had some "great ideas".

Re: Evidence for theistic evolution
Kurieuo, Thanks for the offer, I'll pm you. I can't reasonably take on board his initial premise regarding intelligence, design, irreducibility or complexity. If I do run with his, or even Dembski's, starting definitions I can see how they get to where they are. They are nebulous abstract concepts s...

Re: Evidence for theistic evolution
Is there something wrong with trying to identify on the biological cellular level a "single system composed of several well-matched, interacting parts that contribute to the basic function, wherein the removal of any one of the parts causes the system to effectively cease functioning"? No...
