Re: Have we crossed the line yet?

While I don't expect a B.W. Melvin (there's only room for one in the world, right? :P), there's hope for Ed yet:

Re: Texas executes 'ice pick killer' for 1979 rape and murder

Fwiw, The death penalty had Christ killed. And that was a case of someone innocent being killed. Hey, that was God sacrificing himself. Don't suppose anyone here wants to have a go ? (sorry, couldn't resist) edit: But would you view it as a 'just' execution ? To be particular, someone giving up (sa...

Re: Have we crossed the line yet?

Trump is going to win a second term regardless. I'll call it early, but what'd that say about the taste Democrats left in the mouth of people given Trump is all the bad that the left see him as.

Jesus lived in an Oral culture, back then people could memorize their teachers words, and write them down later.
When news spread of Mary falling pregnant with Jesus though, I'm sure the oral culture declined somewhat.

Re: Richard Dawkins view of the "OT God"

I feel bad for posting this, since I realized that Dawkins is basically a professional troll. Mods feel free to delete this thread. I looked up what Dawkins thinks about Jesus, and he thinks that Jesus would've been an Athiest if he lived in our time, which shows a profound lack of biblical knowled...

Re: How do you know prayer works?

I've brought this back up because I was thinking about Luke 18:1-8, the parable of the persistent widow. Jesus told it to show his disciples 'that they should always pray and not give up.' The widow in the story keeps asking the judge for justice until he essentially gets sick of it and does what s...

Ken: Well evidently there are a lot of Christians who don’t always follow Christ’s teachings in how to treat unbelievers. If you don’t see this, perhaps its because you are not an Atheist. Ken, did you not read what I acknowledged directly above your comment about that reality. Most of those people...

Re: For Those Who DON'T believe in God:

In 1 John 4 we read that any who claim to love God and then hate their "brother", that they're liars and do not love God. (1 John 4:20-21)

Hey, if I attend their LGBT events, will they in return attend Christian events I'd line up? Maybe we can exchange. ;)

Re: Richard Dawkins view of the "OT God"

“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniac...

Re: The Principle of Sufficient Reason (PSR)

And second, as I have shown many times, a mutliverse is no substitute for a necessary reality because a mutliverse is still materially contingent and therefore must require an explanation extrinsic to itself. So you have no choice but to kick the can further back to something beyond the multiverse....

Re: Asking God to reveal himself?

We won't see eye-to-eye Nils, on many things, basic things. As I've said, our hearts are deceitful above all things. As such, I'd much rather people introspect their own biases and the like. Both sides of the argument have equally intelligent people (who presumably know most of the main line of argu...

Re: Adam’s rib

But it is a bit interesting - Adam and Eve first sinned. And yet we're told sin is not counted where there is no law. But Adam's sin most definitely was counted - so what law exactly did Adam transgress that such a terrible price was assigned to it? As Adam's sin was held accountable, there had to ...
