Since it's been awhile, perhaps someone new looking in will know of an author.

Re: Three Days and Three Nights

Christian2, re: “ The Scriptures contain several examples which clearly show that in Bible times a part of a day was often equivalent to the whole day.” I don’t see where any of your examples show that the phrase “x” days and “x” nights HAD to mean a period of time that didn’t include at least parts...

Re: Three Days and Three Nights

PaulSacramento,

re: “Jesus died before the Sabbath...”

How can you be absolutely certain that it wasn’t an annual sabbath which can fall on any day of the week?

Re: Bible Contradictions??

PaulSacramento,

re: “There was a time that food restrictions were needed, not anymore.”

Any thoughts as to why food restrictions were needed at one time, and at what point they were no longer needed and the reason for that?

Re: Three Days and Three Nights

christian2, re: “‘three days and three nights’ is a Hebrew idiom for any part of three days and three nights.” As asked in the OP, do you have any historical documentation from the first century or before, that shows that the phrase “3 days AND 3 nights” was ever used to delineate a period of time w...

Re: Three Days and Three Nights

Kurieuo, re: “...is not your ultimate goal to try and fault the 3 days and [3] nights?” I think that Matthew 12:40 is to be taken literally - that at least parts of three light periods and at least parts of 3 dark periods are intended by the prophecy. I am not aware of any scripture or extra Biblica...

Re: A few questions

B.W.,

re: “b) An atheist who thought like that would not be an atheist...”

How so? Are you saying that the person in (b) believes - is convinced - that a supreme being exists?

Re: Question on Luke

Canuckster1127,

re: “The scripture doesn't say a lot of things about how it is to be understood or interpretted.”

OK - Just so you don’t state as fact something that is merely your opinion about what the Bible would say about an issue if it were to include it as scripture.

Re: Question on Luke

Canuckster1127, re: “They [the parables] were still to be understood by those he spoke to at the time.” That is true, but there is no scripture that says that the Messiah spoke in parables so that His message could be better understood. Scripture only gives two reasons: the first mentioned above and...

Re: Question on Luke

Canuckster1127,

re: “ Parables are illustrative stories used by Christ to make a point.”

Actually, parables were used to keep “those who were outside” (Mark 4:11) from “knowing the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 13:11).

Re: Revelations Not Foretelling the Future?

Legatus,

re: “ Last I heard, ‘the lords day’ was the name of the sabbath, which had moved from saturday to sunday, and thus changed it's name from sabbath to lords day. John had his vision on sunday, that is all.”

Do you have any scripture to support those notions?
