Is it a sin to not have children? Where would society be if every couple decided not to have kids? Doesn't sound very convincing.

Re: The Big Bang - Why Is It Controversial?

Ivellious, are you familiar with the cosmological argument? The big bang has been used by apologists for a while now as evidence that the universe has a definite starting point, and the best explanation for that coming into existence is God. I'm not really sure where you got the idea that most Chris...

Re: Help required on the Lebniz Cosmological arguement.

Definition of what, exactly? Of simplicity? Necessity? Sorry, I'm unclear on what you are asking. Sorry, I mean there are three definitions of God used in that paper, and I would assume divine simplicity falls under (3) since that is what is covered. I'm just not sure if that definition is sometime...

Re: Help required on the Lebniz Cosmological arguement.

I agree with you that (2) is deeply problematic. That premise assumes that the universe cannot be necessary of its own nature (one of the options he allows in (1)). But why make that assumption? Granted, Craig calls God a necessary being, but what makes God necessary and the universe not? Hume reco...

Re: Question and discussion about rewards in heaven...

Hi there everyone, with the lack of solid and effective opportunities to share the gospel at least for me right now, and if I never get those opportunities because of circumstances out of my control, in the afterlife with God, do you all think He will reward those like myself who would love to do b...

Re: Is the bible a moral authority?

I define absolute as complete or unchanging, perfect in definition. What it is today is what it was 1000 years in the past and what it will be 1000 years in the future. For example the constituents of water are absolute. Water was made of H20 a billion years ago and it will be made of h20 a billion...

Re: Is the bible a moral authority?

He said that there are teachings that deal directly with how we ought to be and teaching that dealt with how the Hebrews needed to be. He said that some teachings are timeless and some teachings were directed at a specific people during a specific period of time. That sounds like different morals f...

Re: Morality Without God?

Here's your error, Bryan. MURDER was punishable by death. Justified killing was not. Do you see the difference? Mate you just proved my point... You have unjustified killing and justified killing... That's kind of subjective, don't you think? Not at all. That which makes the act justified or unjust...

Re: Morality Without God?

For this conversation to progress, you need to tell me if you do or do not accept Dr. Craig's appeal to subjective opinions as the sole support of his assertion that objective moral facts exist. Specifically, the only support he gave for his assertion is that it is "obvious" and that &quo...

Just wanted to say that Dom's delivery might be a bit rough, but I wouldn't go so far as to imply the above is what he's advocating.

Re: Proof that GOD Exists

Proving objective morality would require proving God since God is the explanation for objective morality. Exactly my thoughts. Trying to prove God by proving objective morality just doesn't work very well in my opinion. One might have suspicions that OM exists, but that isn't much of a proof. Accep...

Re: Proof that GOD Exists

beany, but what do you think, how this applies to formal logic? can two contradictory statements both be right at the same time? Consider this: Me: This glass is of cold water. You: This glass feels warmer so the water must be warm. Now how I see this, you're saying that If you were left in the ice...
