zoegirl, your treading on thin ice with regards to old earth theory here :) . NOt sure how I am doing this? I agree with the Old Earth concept. I was only speaking in reference to miracles, not the history of the wolrd. Of course I am very tired, (chaperoning teenagers can be exhausting!) so it is ...

Welcome!!

We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Christ is a great, powerful, and loving savior. I hope and pray that you continue with your questions. Don't be quiet, ask away, seek Him...!

THis is way off topic, but you put me in mind of an old cartoon made in the 40's/50's where a man who dies is explaining his life to Peter at the gates of Heaven. His use of cant and slang to describe how he lived and died is portrayed as Peter understands it. So it becomes quite ridiculous as it ra...

I think this points out the potential pitfalls of finding naturalistic explanations for miracles. Sometimes we forget that these miracles are ultimately caused by God, even if He works within His creation, He oculd still manipulate occurences. Although God could have used these naturalistic means, t...

My one problem with ID as both a philosophy and a science regards our interpreting God's intentions. For example...ID claims that Design can be a testable phenomenon. THen came along "junk" DNA. Accordning to ID.... Do we assume that God makes junk...that assumes that we know it is junk an...

why does life actually need an explanation? Surely the 'explanation' is just this: do as you would be done by. It's not that simple, but it's the jist of humanism. Smartie, I would highly recommend these two books, although probably Mere Christianity would be my first choice. It is a very compellin...

Your school server may not differentiate between pro-life and simply sensitive/controversial sites.

My school blocks many sites that are deemed possibly innappritate. I teach at a Christian school and godandscience is blocked!!

meaning of evolution

This has probably been covered in depth elsewhere... I tell my students that every converstaion concerning evolution must first define evolution (even my graduate classes understood that this is a slippery word, with multiple layers) 1) evolution as a philosophy? (NO God, chance alone) 2) chemical e...

My hope is that my posts didn't come as a insulting. Sometimes it's hard to interpret written word. My apologies if they did. However, you must understand that as CHristians, we will be against the atheist philosophy. To us, any belief denying GOd is abhorrent, denying His right as God. You say you ...

GOod grief I would think that all of humanity, from art to music to science and religion, shows that we strive to figure out why things are the way they are, how they ought to be, what are the reason when they aren't the way they ought to be, and how to solve these problems. Explaining phenomenon in...

I did grow up in a Christian home. I also read the Bible when young as well as attended church. The conviction in my heart as well of these other influences led to my becoming a Christian. When I was in high school and college I read two books that convinced me of the truth in Scripture. One was Mor...

Please understand, I don't doubt that God could have done it that way. Form scripture, however, I know God was involved from start to finish For instance, when some use the arguement that God and evolution work together, what they mean is that God simply put all the ingredients together in the prove...
