Example, I say (in somewhat of a syllogistic fashion): “Things of a destructive nature are morally wrong; murder destroys life; hence murder is morally wrong.” And essentially this argument can be broken down to its tiniest intricacies and in fact, there are flaws in the logic because, if one were...

Pray and play--just dont lose soul points.

I remember viewing something some time ago about this on a news broadcast. Personally, I see a game such as this as being very dangerous to young impressionable minds. There is an acute danger that an emotionally challenged young person might act out the scenarios in the game. Unlike other video gam...

Dress is very much influenced by culture - fashion, climate, activity, venue, gender, age, association. What is considered modest, decent and proper in one situation is not necessarily so in another. There is a matter of judgement that needs to be made consistent with the times, and my personal opi...

Maybe my conversation with my friend might be of help to you. It could be that your friend you speak about felt so suffocated by the Church and Christianity in some way that he started to look for valid reasons to disassociate himself from it. This may have been how he came to discover these contra...

Re: The de-conversion of a friend

I was telling our friend Byblos how I stumbled across a website called http://www.geocities.com/questioningpage/ Questioning: an examination of christian belief . Unbeknownst to me, it turns out that he is an old friend of mine who periodically attends my church with his wife, and about twenty year...

What is the correct way to read the Bible?

A sincere and grateful thanks for the information. I will try this. And most important I will get the chronological Bible. Please forgive such a very short post but I have been up since 3.30 am and it is now almost 10.00 PM so I am extremely tired. As well I only got two hours sleep last night and i...

Oh, from Down Under? I guess that's me. Just across the ditch to the east of you. I think perhaps folks are getting a little confused with discrimination. There is perhaps a bit of that from time to time, but more likely to be informal than formal. Formal discrimination gets adressed in courts of l...

From 6:2 SATAN knew that the REDEEMER of mankind must be a member of the human race (See - Gen 3:15) therefore SATAN set about to corrupt all flesh upon the earth by the union of the sons of God with the daughters of men. Both the early church fathers (e.g., Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Athenagoras, Ps...

Charlie, One thing that my pastor told me, which is helping me with exactly the same issues. (and ONLY helping me, I'm not completely there) IS to read the Bible every morning. And do not just read, but study. 1 verse 10 times may be better than 10 verses 1 time. And then pray. You may have heard t...

Jesus actually spoke quite a lot about eternal damnation and cautioned people about that consequence for those who did not accept the Truth. Do you believe He is a credible witness concerning these matters? It is a hard truth claim of Christianity, but it is the only one consistent with the rest of...

Christianity and persecution

Recently on two separate occasions the issue of Christians being persecuted was raised. Both times the argument was put forward that Christians no matter where they live are persecuted and that society is out to stop them from being able to practice their beliefs. I am wondering, given that I live i...

How about a little bit of honesty

Thanks for understanding what I was meaning regarding my post. It sometimes upsets me that some people actually deny what it is they mean to stand for. If people believe in something then they should be prepared to stand by their convictions.

When people ask me

Excellent debate with good arguments from both sides Judah. As for the qustion regarding Hell from Omimanordude I think this is a situation whereby tact is needed. It is only logical that a non-believer cant comprehend Hell nor a loving God. Who likes to be told that there is a place such as Hell wh...

What is the correct way to read the Bible?

I hope this doesn't seem too much of a ridiculous question to ask, but is there any set way a person should read the Bible? I have been trying to read it from start to finish as well as opening it at random. Both methods dont seem to work for me. The first method that I use is to gain some historica...
