Re: Commandments of the prophets
I'd like to offer a little different anwer than the unaninmous conclusion reached thus far. I like what Jac3510 wrote in his post above. He also brought out the point that only Israelites - Jews - are bound to the Law. Jac3510 has obviously given much thought to the matter and I think his answer is...

Re: Why did God command children and babies to be killed?
Maybe part my problem is that I am looking at this from an emotional standpoint. I don't know. I do know that God's Holy Wrath is only part of who He is, and not His totality... and every creature of His is important to Him and loved by him.

Re: Why did God command children and babies to be killed?
Another possible explanation as to why God would command children and babies to be killed was the spread of the nephilim. For the most part the Israelis were to make peace with a city before they went into battle Deut. 20:10, however when they ever came across the camps of these genetically altered...

Re: Why did God command children and babies to be killed?
JAC, I completely agree! I know that God is good, I know we all deserve judgement, etc. but like I said it doesn't make sense to me in light of who I think God to be...maybe my ideas of him is skewed or not complete. Thank you for your reply, Jac. I do appreciate it as usual.

Re: Why did God command children and babies to be killed?
While I could suggest answers to your questions, Catherine, your basic condemnation of God as evil and rejection of the justice of Hell says more than anything I could, I think. Jac, I don't think Catherine or myself are suggesting that God is evil. Only that we are having trouble reconciling a lov...

Re: Why did God command children and babies to be killed?
I agree Catherine. God gave us minds intellects and emotions, and these killings don't seem to reconcile with His charactor. He may have a good reason for killing innocent babies and children, but I don't think it is or should be acceptable. I also don't think that God will judge us for these though...

Re: Faith can't live without it
Faith, no one can live without. Even the most militant atheist has faith, faith in science, faith in one's five senses and reason. However, they most likely do not like to use the word faith to describe their belief system. It takes faith to believe in that there is no god. How many inventions came...

Re: Why did God command children and babies to be killed?
If God's ways are higher than our ways, I wouldn't expect Him to use warfare that is brutal and evil. As he punished the Egyptians via the angel of death, why did he get the Israelites to kill the people, men women and children in such a barbarous way and not do it Himself, in a less gruesome way, ...
