So HOW does Christ's Salvation sequence actually work?

Is being saved as simple as praying a prayer? Or just having belief that Jesus is God / the Messiah? Or are there not some important nuances to these things, in our hearts and minds, as we consider the Gospel message? Coming to faith is not so much what YOU do, but what GOD has made possible for everyone to do, but ONLY through Christ's sacrifice on the Cross and His drawing of all who ALSO embrace it, believe it, and submit to Him.
