Um, I learned a very hard lesson about hamsters. I made my boys put their hamster outside on the screen porch in winter - cause I didn't want it in the house any longer. It had an enclosed cage, plenty of nesting material - I figured it would be plenty warm. Couple nights of low-20s, my son finds him frozen, stiff as a board. No problem, I figured they hibernated. Wrong! Turns out they live in deserts and warmer areas - they are cold intolerant. But after an hour after bringing him inside, "Lazarus" started twitching and slowly revived. But he didn't live long after that. Who knew?
