One can argue that even JW's are a "denomination" because, in the end, they believe that salvation is through Christ ONLY, that He lived and died and was resurrected and will come again.
That salvation is only in Our Lord.
Paul,
With everything you've written about JW here on this board, I can't believe you actually said this.
Devil's advocate here.
As I wrote above, I personally believe it to be aberrant.
My point is that they don't and that is how they justify it and to simply call anything aberrant means very little.

This was the OP:
What defines an aberrant or non-mainstream denomination around here? Is it a single or small set of core tenets (e.g. a belief in salvation and the Trinity)? Is it based on the holy texts of that denomination? Is it the number of adherents relative to other denominations? Is it all of those things? Or none?
My point is that what one person my define, another may not, especially those of that denomination/religion.

EX:
To say that anyone that doesn't believe in the Triune nature of God belongs to an aberrant religion means what?
That they can believe in everything else BUT the Trinity and still be aberrant?
That all it takes is ONE "core doctrine" to not be believed and a religion is aberrant?

Actually, no.
My intention is to try and clear up WHO decides what is aberrant and WHY.
So, my questions stands:

To say that anyone that doesn't believe in the Triune nature of God belongs to an aberrant religion means what?
That they can believe in everything else BUT the Trinity and still be aberrant?
That all it takes is ONE "core doctrine" to not be believed and a religion is aberrant?

God's Word decides what is aberrant and what is not. As for God's Triune nature, that is evident to any Christian. Any Christian. If the Triune nature of God is not evident to you, you should not be a moderator here.

If all you are doing is playing Devil's Advocate, you need to stop.

Ha. ha. ha. The man from Sacramento is the Froot Loopian. I'm a Lucky Charmian. Anyway, I have since returned to atheism due to Silvertusk's revelation.

Everybody's a Christian at Christmas!

Nope. I meant atheists, Hindus and Muslims. JWs don't celebrate Christmas.

Speaking of JWs, I was installing a new battery in my car today when two JW ladies accosted me. ''You're JWs,'' I said when I saw their Awake! magazine. ''you are emissaries of Satan.'' I then added, ''You are the embodiment of evil.''

I must have upset those poor ladies because they called over the two other satanic emissaries doing door-to-door hustling on the other side of my street, then all 4 piled into their car and drove off.

Over the years, I have learned not to discuss with the spiritually blind but I felt a little bad for those poor ladies.

OK, my confession is over. What is my penance?

The same as always...a bag of chips and a coke. Must you even ask?

And, did you really have JW women come to you? Canada is much more liberal than the US. JW in the US don't allow women to do the men's work.

When I was a JW, I was part of the Jehovas Witness protection program.

I went door to door pretending I was someone else.

Yes...four young & pretty women with straight white teeth; one black & 3 white. (actually, I only saw the teeth of the black woman who spoke to me but I'm quite sure they all went to the dentist regularly.) And you're right: mere women shouldn't be doing a man's work. That's another reason to boycott the Watchtower Society.

When I was an atheist, I went door-to-door pretending to be a JW. I just wanted to irritate everybody .

BTW, I still haven't finished my Doritos & Dr Pepper

Before you decide on voicing your view on what YOU think makes on qualified to be a moderator, maybe you should read what I am actually posting as opposed to what you are reading.
I have a Bach in Theology and I am quite a devote Christian AND believe that God is a Triune Being.
None of that keeps me from being able to see the "other side".
You should try it, it won't kill you and may just help you to understand others and, perhaps, bring them away from aberrant behaviour.
My approach has allowed me to bring back 3 JW's to mainstream Christianity.
Not that I can take credit for that, I simply pointed the way to the HS and He did the rest.

My point is, very seldom or things so black and white and they never are simply because "we want them to be".
