Google cache
For reasons I can't disclose, (confidential) I need info ( in very simple blonde) language about the following.
How do you tell when someone last edited particular web page?
How could I get a snap shot of the old page Vs new page.
As I say, I can't give out info but it's to do with something extremely important to me.

Re: Google cache
I can find the date Google last cache the page but that does not confirm date of last edit as far as I'm aware?

Does this help?
https://www.computerhope.com/tips/tip30.htmPerform Google search
Paste what you copied into a Google search, or the omnibox at the top of your browser, and then press Enter.
At the top of your search results, you should see the date that indicates the last time the page was modified or updated.

Using Chrome, right click anywhere on the web page. You should have an option to view the source code (Chrome is open source). You will see a bunch of XML code that will probably mean nothing to you but you should be able to search it. Press CTL F, a search window will open. Type MODIF then click search. The last modification date should be somewhere in the meta data. Let me know if this works.
PS. If the source code option is not there, in the top right corner of chrome is the menu represented by 3 vertical dots. Click on that then click Developer Tools. This should open up the source. You should be able to search it as above.

Re: Google cache
The type of website they use don't have dates in their source code.
I have reason to believe a professional I know has changed their wording on a website to protect themselves against a complaint.
I can't disclose details but any suggestions would be appreciated.
I can see through one site where the page was last modified and the timing could potentially be used against them

If the source code doesn't have date logs then your only recourse is a source backup. Short of that I'm afraid you're SOL, sorry.Nessa wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2019 5:24 pm The type of website they use don't have dates in their source code.
