There was once this guy who wasn't mentally all there. He was known to just roam around the suburbs, shops and like. This one time I was walking through the shops, he was aroused and pulled it out and started masturbating.

The thing is, we understand that masturbation is something most of us understand needs to kept in check. We resist urges, because we are not simply animalistic creatures, but rise about such based upon our situation. It might be a natural bodily reaction, it can even be done devoid of lust, but there'd be no scene I'm sure as depressing or shameful when God plays back our life seeing the many times we masturbated.

I'm not putting it in the context of what is right or wrong. But rather, see self-control is a highly desirable attribute. Masturbation for men (and many women) can be a hard thing to master. The question is, does masturbation control you? Can you resist? There is something alluring to Ascetics who strived to put off any fleshly desire.

But, like I say in my last post, the one thing we do not want is to sacrifice a love, in exchange for focusing so much upon ourselves and own self-righteousness that we never see the person in need because we're so self-absorbed. Ascetics tended to isolated themselves, i.e., like monks, and how then can they love others? I feel there is often an imbalance between self-perfection and loving others. Jesus evidently preferred the latter in us, having our back on the former.

That's very punny.

Yeah, K, it's pretty easy for us married one's to get up on a soap box and infer masturbation is sinful, given that we have an opportunity to frequently alleviate sexual impulses in our marriage beds. The only way what you are on about makes sense is if you can authoritatively show from Scripture that M, done without lusting, is a sin. If and as you cannot, It seems rather silly to speak of it as you do. What it does, for those single, is provides an outlet of relief that doesn't have to be done in lust, is private, and hurts no one, including the person doing it. So married people are given an outlet for their sexual drives, but single people just need to wait in torment and frustration on the right type of dream? What?

K,

I'm glad your "friend" finally got the help he needed. Please don't stop taking your meds. ;)

Pretty lame satire there. You evidently didn't read what I said carefully so will let it slide.

I dont think anyone is getting up on a soap.box.tho?

Self control is a good thing. And if mastirbation controls us then that isnt healthy.

That is not the same as saying M is a S :P

Ness: I dont think anyone is getting up on a soap.box.tho?

I agree, maybe not the best way of saying that - wasn't meant to jump on K - only on the key point about whether it is automatically sin, and that it's easy for married people to look down on it (NOW). Sorry if I missed your meaning, K.

Ness: Self control is a good thing. And if mastirbation controls us then that isnt healthy.

This is true - except there might be an exception for left-handed people (you know those "creative" types). I am RIGHT-handed  .

True as well. Yep, being controlled by whatever one's downstairs urges is not good. So, like anything else, beyond moderation and sensible, practical use, it can become a real problem. Lust: ALWAYS sin!

The thing is....

Would you like a cupcake on its own or would you like some frosting and sprinkles on top of it?

Most people want their cupcake to be as pleasurable as possible. Hence not eating it straight out of the oven before adding to it.

It could be hard just having M without adding to it things that are wrong but would make it more pleasurable.

My point is that M without lust might kind of be like vanilla... Plain. And that is really how it should be but not everyone is happy with just vanilla and may struggle.

Why have a cupcake when you can have a three layer cake with lots of frosting? :D

But for single people: Cupcakes ONLY! And not even fantasies or pictures of cake are allowed.

No food porn allowed!

Only this for unmarrieds:

And TOO many cupcakes is also bad.

Got it!
