"Can people in heaven look down and see us?"

Can our loved ones see us from heaven? I feel terrible I have always felt that because of some of the things I have done they are disappoint in me .

Just my personal opinion on this but I don't think they 'see' us how we perceive sight but I do think they are aware of us.

The forgiveness thing, I think they forgive you, they love you. God has forgiven you, they live with God so it stands to reason they will too.

This all depends on how they are in relation to time, I think these questions may not have answers as we just don't know. But it is nice to think that we are being watched and looked out for by our relatives and friends who may have departed the mortal plain.

If people go to heaven straight after they die, is the resurrection for collecting their old body, and if so, why do they need it later, seeing they have lived without it for so long?

I don`t think we collect our old body, we don`t need it. This is just my personal view but our physical bodies are only needed in this earthly, physical existence. When we die we are given a new "body" I`m not sure what that body will look like, or if it will have form as I think that the bit of us that God saves is our soul, or spirit.

The bible tells us that the spirit leaves our bodies and returns to God.
It tells us that God is a God of the living.
It tells us that the dead are aware of nothing, that they are a "sleep" until the call for the resurrection.
From that we can gather that the spirit of our loved ones are in heaven with God, that they are in a sleep like state and are aware of "nothing" in the sense that we are aware of "nothing" when we sleep.

So when we die, we sleep untill the day of reckoning?

Doesn`t God exist in eternity though? If He does then is it not possible that we all join Him in eternity as soon as we die?

However why would we go to heaven only to be judge again ? Soul sleep is what all of u are talking about However this means we arent in heaven or hell until judgment. However remember this sleep is used many times as a metaphor for death

I`m not sure we are judged. Isn`t the whole point of Christ the fact that our sins are forgiven? We can, through Jesus, stand in front of God without sin. The slate is wiped clean, our sins forgotten and forgiven?

I believe that God exists outside of time (as well as in it), he exists in eternity. We join Him in eternity.

Sleep in the since of resting, yes that is what the bible says.
We do join Him in "eternity", that is why "time" doesn't pass for the dead.

The payment for sin is death, but that payment is for our "original sin".
At the resurrection we will either be judged by our works or as believers ( who are written in the book of life) we will not be judged ( as per John 5).

No, not "soul sleep" as the JW's refer to it.
Our spirit returns to God, that the bible is clear and explicit about it.
Our state in heaven, with God, is what is not clear BUT all passages tend to state that we sleep ( ie rest) until ONE of the resurrections.

I`m not being obtuse, well not deliberately so

I`m confused... Do we join God in eternity at the moment of death? Or "sleep" until ressurection? Or both?

This is something I really struggle to get my head around.
