Does anything attract you to Atheism?

Healthy skepticism of ALL worldviews is good. Skeptical of non-belief like found in Atheism? Post your challenging questions. Responses are encouraged.

Paul,

I think you're a little slow understanding this. If Audie disagrees with something, that automatically means it must be idiotic.

Prease exprain what he was actually saying.

What he actually wrote is kinda dumb.

I said dumb because it is dumb, not " just because I disagree".
There was nothing idiotic in what Wright said and no, he isn't a creationist.
Idiotic means very stupid.
Which means it lacked intelligence and'or common sense.

There is nothing in his post that denotes lack of common sense or intelligence.
You did not say what he "actually meant". I kinda think I know, and its not good.

Are we clear that it is NOT "just because I disagree?"

As for "dumb" or, "idiotic" let's not play semantics plz.

Actually I think we could go deeper than just 'dumb". See, he is apparently a science writer.

Yet he is unacquainted with very basic concepts of science; or else, he is not but chooses to be deceptive.

Either way its hardly admirable, and worse than merely dumb.

In regards to his point that the TOE isn't a theory in his view:

As his opinion is without anything faintly resembling a factual basis, it seems ill considered at best.

A scientific theory must follow the scientific method and one of the key points is that it must be falsifiable.
IE: the theory can be disproven.
You can disagree with his opinion but you can't call it idiotic because it does some some validity.
What adjective might you think is appropriate for such a negligently ill informed opinion being broadcast by someone who is exploiting his popularity as a fiction writer to present fiction as fact?
As for the natural selection being an oxymoron, I posted the link that shows that the view is not idiotic.

I am well familiar with the English language, and i also know what equivocation and semantic games are about.

Oh, and if following what the dictionary says is of any value here, Darwin did not write a "just-so story" Nor, for that matter, does any error or shortcoming of a theory as formulated 150 years ago have the least bearing on its validity today.

Again, I see a deliberate attempt at deception.

Again, you can disagree of course BUt what you can't do is call it idiotic
.

You choose then. I see either ignorance / negligence, or deliberate misrepresentation.

What is your adjective?

A very good question.

Loads of things attract me to Atheism.

1) The lack of any real hope
2) The lack of any real sense of justice in this world
3) The fact that if anything bad happened to me it is just tough
4) The fact that all the people I love will eventually be torn away from me, but then I will die as well so it is ok.
5) The fact that I do not have to worry if any of my achievements will amount to anything. Because they will all be forgotten anyway ( Wish I knew that before I did my degree)
6) The fact that I can eat drink and be merry and be totally selfish to my fellow man - because it is everyman for him self in a world of tooth nail and claw.
7) The fact that my fate is rotting away in a grave
8) The fact that I am not important in any significant way whatsoever in the scheme of things so I don't have to try
9) The fact that I do not have to listen to some sky daddy telling me how to live my life as he only knows whats best for me more than anyone else on this planet.

Dammit! I am sold - I am going to be an atheist from now on!

It is just saying how they would be if not for the carrot and stick thing.

It has the feel of projecting, and a lack of self awareness.

What does it matter Ken . you die poof you are gone into nothingness, the universe one days implodes and all is vanity so who cares what militant atheist think or write or say...

No value in it anyways

Such folks claim they value life, respect others unless of course they are Christians who live their faith - then there is no respect, no value and proof none lives up to his or her own rules and standards...

Who really cares... no one has value midst a universe heading toward extinction...

So the only true value is indifference and smugness so what... no value in any of it or anything any atheist says...

No. Atheism offers nothing worthwhile.

Does anything attract you to nihilism?

No. Atheism offers nothing worthwhile.

It is rather like ashistososomiasisism that way, Or a lack of belief in Batboy. Abatboyism.
What might those offer you, presuming you are not into the worship of snail borne diseases or mutants?

What nonsense to even talk about those things offering anything.

Belief systems are supposed to have some kind of value. Otherwise, they're not worth holding to that system. Atheism offers no value that I can see.

a·the·ism
ˈāTHēˌizəm/
noun
disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods

http://www.strangenotions.com/is-atheism-a-belief/

And second,
Lack of a belief, or disbelief in batboy, really has no bearing on life's questions that everyone inquires about.

Play along for a moment Audie...

If batboy exists, how would that affect you?

If God exists, how would that affect you?
