Every so often, nature reminds us of how insignificant we can be in the face if its power.
It also reminds us how we RISE to the occasion and take care of one another, even people that normally don't get along.
That is the definition of the greatest example and expressions of love, Compassion: To Suffer (passion) with ( com) others.

Make fun of Americans all you want, but just remember, Ken Ham is an Aussie!

Where do you think we send our rejects? :P We need to make Australia great again!
Rejects? Then how come you're still there?
America refused to take me in. :esad: I wasn't left enough or right enough to fit in.
I doubt that. If you've seen some of our immigrants, we take anyone!

I just read that too. My first thoughts were, "What an ass!"

I really liked him as an actor in Growing Pains. Not so much as the act he's putting on lately.

Well, there IS Scriptural support for God sending calamity, but typically with clarity as to why (OT). But calamity can just be random. See Jesus' comment upon disaster in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?s ... ersion=ESV. Thing is, Kirk has no idea how or even whether God might be using the hurricane. So, as people are scared, have their lives turned upside down, perhaps already doubting God's love, it sure doesn't help that some high-profile Christian asserts to know why, with some clueless, pat answer. A better answer: We don't know why God allows certain things, but we do know He loves us and that we can trust Him, and in our troubles, we should reach to Him. And God Himself, in the form of Jesus, submitted Himself to the very same cruelties of this world - He personally knows great suffering, and did not avoid it.

Main thing is, when people are hurting, you sure don't pile on with unhelpful conjecture or speculation - it's sure not going to help evangelism efforts, not to mention their individual situations, feelings or despair! And I say that as a person who realizes that Kirk's heart is in the right place, he means well, but was exceptionally clumsy in response. Course, there's the question as to whether he was accurately quoted.

Rick, I see that new track (just saw it), shows a CAT 4 level storm, just west of you - which could go right over you.

Shouldn't be a 4 when it gets to me. They're predicting a 1 or 2, by the time it hits north Florida.
