Jesus First SJW? Influence of Christ

Post by Kurieuo »

Found this video interesting, although I don't like thinking of Christ as the first social justice warrior. :P

Yet, the positive influences we take for granted rooted in society today, whether it's the equality, freedom of speech, arts, sciences, accessible health care, looking after the environment or the like -- Christ's teachings have been very influential to many societies including our own.

Christ preached that all were equal, which means NO ONE is deserving of special treatment.
SJW believe the opposite.
Christ preached that we should take care of those that can't take care of themselves.
SJW believe that the STATE should take care of those that ASK/DEMAND to be taken care of.
Christ preached salvation via trust and faith in HIM.
SJW preach nothing of the sort.
Christ preached to forgive the sinner BUT not the sin and that once forgiven we should sin no more.
SJW do NOT believe in sin.

I could go on but the facts are that Christ is the furthest thing from a SJW.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't call Christ an SJW in today's sense. On the other hand, a true social justice warrior would advocate TRUE equality and treating all with the same human dignity (something with SJWs don't).

I'll forgive such on the part of the guy in the video, referring to Jesus as the first SJW, given he's from Israel. I get what he probably intends, but his understanding of SJW is just wrong. :P

There is no such thing as "social" justice, there is only Justice.

For all to be equal it means that there are NO special privileges or considerations for anyone.
That is what equality means.

SJW don't want equality, they want favoritism and we can see this by how they protest against free speech, against those with different views.

If one truly believes in equal rights and free speech one does NOT attack those with different views.
One does NOT scream and yell and insult instead of dialogue.
One does NOT try to intimidate and coerce others.

If one truly defends free speech one MUST defend the RIGHT to SPEAK views that they oppose.

The SJW was a split second passing, to an otherwise reasonable video. Did you watch it? ;)

You people are typical of those who grew up with white privilege.

Spouting off about fairness? You white males have no idea what it feels like for the rest of us!

Yes, RickD. I believe what Paul is trying to say is that if you're "white" and "gay" then white privilege doesn't apply.

So as us white males just need to make sure we're happy and merry.

I think it's an interesting question, all the more because it's often argued that Christianity held back humanity in a way that Greek culture would have not. I'd have to read up on ancient Greek history to make an informed opinion on the matter, but I think it's undeniable that Jesus promoted social justice to a degree that was unprecedented at the time.

To those who argue that Roman/Greek culture was better and would've progressed us a lot farther than Christianity did, remember that there was little charity and protection for children, and that gladiators were often common. The Spartans often abandoned little kids if saw fit. Christianity tried to make sure this wouldn't happen. Sure the Church has it's faults but overall the influence was good for the world.
