Is Jesus ruling now or will He rule in the future at the end times?

Matthew 28:17-20

Ephesians 1:20-23

As much as some Christians don't like it, the Bible says that Satan is the current ruler of this world. Now that obviously doesn't mean every inch or corner of the world.

But why would the devil tempt Jesus then - by saying that all He has to do is bow down before Satan and then He can have all that He sees before Him. Naturally Jesus/God "own" the earth, they made it, but perhaps Satan has been given temporary ownership of earth.

The Temptation of Jesus by Satan occurred before the Death and Resurrection of Jesus.
Both of these passages describe the status of Jesus following the Death and Resurrection of Jesus.

At the Temptation Satan was offering Jesus a 'shortcut' to the status that Jesus would obtain anyway...

Satan was basically saying...
You don't have to die to get all this.
You can have it now...
Without the humiliation of serving humanity for 3 years.
Without letting humans kill you on a cross.
Why follow the Father's plan and wait and suffer?
I can give it to you right now without the pain and suffering.
