I was considering buying this book. Has any one here read it? What do you think of it?

I haven't read it.

A quick look at the Amazon listing however, shows me that Carson is (or was) a professor at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and that his book and name is mentioned in the same breath with Gordon Fee and Douglas Stuart. That speaks well of him, and his book, in my opinion.

A look at the reviews seems to indicate that it is balanced and helpful to those who read it.

I'd say go for it. Used starts at about $5 so not a bad deal or risk.

Dogmatism is the comfortable intellectual framework of self-righteousness. Self-righteousness is more decadent than the worst sexual sin. ~ Dan Allender

I've unfortunately not read it, either. I have, however, referenced certain paragraphs and other excerpts from it in papers and arguments. It is a very, very highly respected work in evangelical circles. It's on my "read and buy" list . . . definitely not a waste of money!

And that, brothers and sisters, is the kind of foolishness you get people who insist on denying biblical theism. A good illustration of any as the length people will go to avoid acknowledging basic truths.
