What's your favorite kind of play?

So I started working with kids about a month ago, and I realized just today that I haven't been playful enough -- too much hanging back and trying to defend what's fair rather than getting into the thick of things to entertain directly. So as I was playing more with the kids, it made me wonder what things people do as adults to play?

If you're at a loss, drinking games count. ;)

This can degenerate very quickly so please be careful. As for me and my wife, we like the occasional trip to Foxwoods Casino & Resort. Slot machines for her, craps table for me.

A word of advice for dealing with children, and this is coming not only from a parent but also an owner of a pre-school (my wife's). Sharing is overrated. Don't push it too hard.

Reading theological tomes and ponder the meaning of existence, of course. :eugeek:  :P

Seriously, though, I don't get a lot of adult play time. Kinds are seven and three (almost four), so I do a lot of direct entertaining (in your terms). I actually don't referee as much, be that good or bad. Some, sure, but not a ton. Put just what do I do for fun without the kids? My wife and I still try to date, so going on to dinner and such is nice. We both like movies or certain TV shows, so sometimes we'll stay up late together and binge watch stuff together. We're new(ish) to the area we live in, so we're slowly building up a friend base and will have company over from time to time. We're sort of quiet (= boring, probably) people in general.

Although we did go to a few Razorbacks games last year. That was fun. Sometimes we'll drive up to northwest Arkansas for some of the attractions or up to Branson and do Silver Dollar City. That sort of stuff is just expensive. . . .

Heh. Yeah, on most days studying languages is about as much "fun" as I get up to, so I can kinda relate. I had gone out to a few meetups in my area when I first moved, but that kinda slipped off once I started working.

Having company sounds good too. I'm pretty quiet myself, so usually even when I go out it's for something more low key, like a discussion group.
