Re: Question on Salvation/Belief in Christ

Metaphorically, yes to both.
Anatomically, no to both.

Now my brain hurts...

Re: Movie Release "The Golden Compass"

Folk might be interested in reading the review of Philip Pullman's trilogy "His Dark Materials" and the release of the film made from the first book, "The Golden Compass", on the blog of Dr Albert Mohler, president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (the flagship school...

Re: Question on Baptism

Phiver4, this question will be answered differently by members of different denominations, and each will claim that their interpretation is sound Biblically. The God and Science home page points to an article off site which is well worth reading as it does a thorough exploration of Scripture on this...

Judah, if I read your article does that mean you will have authority over me?  Oops, I missed that one. FFC, I see that you are still just as cheeky as ever. Keep it up. It is rather endearing. BTW, are you still eating your breakfast over the kitchen sink? That's the image I have of y...

Re: Is there any thing in the Bible that suggests that a woman..

Welcome back, Kateliz. I'd noticed you had not been around for quite a while. And married! Good one! May you both be very happy. Have a good look around that particular website, Kateliz, as there is a wealth of information there that will answer your questions. It is rather a goldmine, in fact. The ...

Re: Abraham's Bosom

The original question related to the meaning of the term "Abraham's bosom" and how it was to be understood as it appeared in the context where it is found in Luke 16. Questions were also asked concerning time and place in relation to eternity. The narrative appears within a group of other ...

Re: Is there any thing in the Bible that suggests that a woman..

Having just read through this thread, there are some thoughts I would like to add. Paul forbids women to speak in church, meaning to have authority over men, especially in a teaching role - which I think does preclude them from becoming pastors. He was correcting the behaviour of certain women in on...

Re: Abraham's Bosom

 Well, I am happy enough with the idea that Jesus was using the term "Abraham's bosom" in the same sense that the Jews understood it, as per the explanation in John Gill's Exposition of the Bible. It served to make His point, but to dissect the story and read more into it than was lik...

Re: Abraham's Bosom

Stand back a little and look at the context. As well as speaking to the Pharisees, Jesus was also busy teaching His disciples through the use of parables - the Great Banquet (Luke 14), the Lost Sheep, the Lost Coin, the Lost Son (Luke 15), the Shrewd Manager, the Rich Man and Lazarus (Luke 16). A pa...

I see you have mastered the "quote" feature, too.

There are some further points about that feature here. 8)

Re: Technical help

Some further points about using the "quote" feature... It isn't always necessary to quote a post, especially if it is sitting there directly above your own. Used unneccessarily can make the dialogue heavy and ponderous to wade through... especially when you get multiple quotes within quote...

Re: Abraham's Bosom

The word "bosom" in the context of Luke 16:22 is G2859 in Strong's Dictionary - κόλπος The definition given is: Apparently a primary word; the bosom; by analogy a bay: - bosom, creek. It has also been translated as follows: Luke 16: 22 "The time came when the beggar died and the angel...

Re: Ignorance of the Bible

That's good to hear, Joseph. We cannot change the world in a day, but all these little steps equal movement in the right direction and if those shown what their Bibles say would go and show others, then the ripple effect will also help. On another Christian forum, an Anglican one, a woman appeared t...

Re: What do you think about this family?

Maybe you are thinking of the following verse... ? James 3: 1 Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2 We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his...
