Re: Jesus and family

To say that Jesus was not the firstborn sort of creates a brush with the Bible-how then would the virgin concept apply in relation to the birth of Jesus? Huh? No clue what you're talking about. Whoever said Jesus is not the first born? You just attribute meaning to the term first born that may not ...

Re: Clean and unclean foods

Reason I used the word 'suggestions ' was to awaken and question the audacity of some of us in saying we determine what we eat/select as though God has not already stated what He wants from us.God's word is no suggestion, but command,it is not that I am saying the Ten Commandments or the health laws ...

Re: Clean and unclean foods

Well said jenna. After all zoe had answered herself by saying 'ceremonial',there were basically three laws in the OT:health(still binding unless health is no longer a concern),ceremonial(sacrifices and blood things-done away with by the death of Jesus) and moral-also called as the Ten Commandments ,n...

Re: Christians who committ suicide

If works don't matter then Christ needs to revise His constitution because He states that He is going to reward'..everyone as His works shall be'(Rev 22 12.Probably He needs to know that works don't save, but His grace!

Re: Clean and unclean foods

We have liberty to choose what will take for food from what God prescribed for food, not openly and universally.Personal preferences do come ,but God has to have the final say over them,if we love Him.He has prescribed and we still have the freedom to digress or keep in line, bearing we are going to b...

Re: Jesus and family

Well the denomination I attend is catholic(universal),but we practice what the Bible says.To say that Jesus was not the firstborn sort of creates a brush with the Bible-how then would the virgin concept apply in relation to the birth of Jesus?Yes,siblings He had and that is indubitable.

Re: Christians who committ suicide

Tough and true talk is needed if people are to be set free from the fetters of error and come to the knowledge of the truth.Jesus had no such talk as sweet talk, but addressed the truth as it was and it remained with the individual whether or not to take down the bitterness of the truth and live it o...

Re: What Does Christmas mean to You?

God is not desperate for holidays such that we confiscate paganism to give it to Him.He has the weekly Sabbath day and the communion.Funny how we rush to secure holidays, forsaking holy days, forgetting what God reiterated we should remember and playing good to thinks that have not been made obligatio...

Re: Christians who committ suicide

The works we do should and cannot be wrought of our sinful and dirty nature ,but through the enabling power of God.Remember His loves constraints us and we can do all things since nothing is impossible with Him.Remember Enoch lived a holy life(sinless)Sin is defined as the transgression of God's Law...

Re: Clean and unclean foods

B.W., the verses you gave don't apply to clean and unclean foods. They apply to fasting, and the eating of food that had been sacrificed to animals. Note quite - it applies to what makes a new believer stumble and it also applies to dietary laws and Sabbath. If someone wants to keep the diet...

Re: Jesus and family

Mary did not remain a virgin. She was very human and not supernatural.Note how she is addressed by the angel,'Hail Oh favored one...'.She was righteous not from her birth but by choice of way of life.God created everyone with the tendency to sin or not as one chooses. Not one was created with a fixed ...

Re: Christians who committ suicide

] I find no reason in Scripture to assume that this is an unforgivable sin. That certainly doesn't condone it however.[/quote] Suicide is a sin, no doubt. The issue is whether it is an unforgivable sin. I believe suicide is a grave sin which does usurp God's gift of life, however, for the Christian,...

Re: Clean and unclean foods

Hi Oscarsiziba, your understanding of the 'first sin' that was committed by the first humans is one I have never come across!! Adam and Eve were disobedient, they did something God told them not to. I don't even know for sure if the tree is a literal tree, although I do accept that it is, I am open...
