Re: 'Oldest' fossils reveal life 3.4 billion years ago
It is so hard to draw a line between a "chemical process" and "life" (unless you are God). What, really, is the difference between a series of reactions and real life? Is it purely materialistic, being that it can "grow and reproduce", and is that even measurable since ...

Ever notice how only the only religion to sway 100% of a country's people to practice is Islam... and it did it three times?

Re: What has a soul?
You forget that DNA doesn't "program" us, it just regulates the production of proteins. Our brains function spontaneously, without a cause that science can pinpoint, and the proteins and "other biological factors" are merely used by our minds to control our bodies in different wa...

Re: Defending an animal
Not necessarily... God does value animals and cares for them and their suffering, can't remember the exact verse now, but I suspect the reason we all feel so much pain when we witness animal abuse is because we know and can sense that animals are innocent, unlike humans. Innocent animals and babies ...

Re: What has a soul?
Perfect!Science is too young to understand the idea of the soul. It needs to go a long way. They are still trying to look inside quarks. I think when the reach the most sub atomic particle in the universe, perhaps that day you can ask what a soul is made up of.

Re: Homosexuality
Here's my input on this... Any living, sexual creature is capable of exhibiting erotic sensations towards anything else, given the environment. My dog humps her stuffed animals... and she's female! But let's not go there. The point is, sexual attraction is a very broad thing, but humans are not supp...

Don't restrict God to our perception of Time. It causes all sorts of issues!

Re: I need a short concise answer please
The question comes down to this. God would be taking away our free will if our choices were all predetermined. The only way for that to be is if God designed us SO THAT we would carry out those predetermined choices. However, he did not design us to follow specific choices, he designed us for Him. N...

Re: What has a soul?
Anything that has a mind has a soul, as far as I understand. Sometimes it is easier to point out than other times. Mammals, like dogs, for instance, obviously have some sort of a mind that guides the body. Birds do as well. So do reptiles. Then it gets tricky, and I don't know from here. Perhaps ins...

Re: Where to Start Reading and Learning About the Bible
Start with the New Testament, it is most important to know what Christ has done for us! I would suggest any of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) as well as Acts and a couple of Paul's letters, perhaps Romans. The first three Gospels are good for understanding what he did, and John and Roman...

Re: Israel's Options??
So you think Israel should be one Jewish state, and that peaceful Palestinians should be absorbed into it as citizens or to neighboring countries, Gman? Seems very simple and reasonable to me, at least. Israel is already small enough, and it is a strong democracy. I don't think that Palestinians rea...

Re: I need a short concise answer please
Of course we have freewill. Even if God knows every little thing we are to do, he is above space and time. He doesn't have to operate in the same linear manner that we do. We are still following our own paths through time and make our own choices. It would only be predestination if God Himself desig...
