Re: Choosing Which Eternal Destiny
It is not the message of hell or heaven or all the things Paul spoke to Felix about that saves people or motivates people to preach Sudsy – God’s word divides the wheat from the chaff. It is the Lord who Draws and Saves... No one is questioning if it is God who draws and saves. The point is whether...

Re: Immortality - Conditional or Not ?
Are you saying you believe we humans are merely material beings? Your question was - "How did God create us?" Did He literally create us out of absolutely nothing? I answered with scripture that says He created us from the dust of the earth not 'ex nihilo'. Scripture does say that "T...

Re: Choosing Which Eternal Destiny
Clear enough? No, not clear to me what you are getting at. What I am talking about is whether or not a person has had a fair choice to decide to accept the gift of eternal life if they have not also received the consequences of making that choice. If someone offers me a million dollars and perhaps ...

Re: Immortality - Conditional or Not ?
Sudsy, we have been through this before on the ‘infinite punishment for finite sins’ thread. And No one is slamming you. A good suggestion would be to have stuck to that thread instead of adding another one. I didn't say you were slamming me but rather slamming the views of others. IMO, the other t...

Re: Choosing Which Eternal Destiny
Yes, I do. My understanding of a fair choice would be that the consequences of making that choice should be as clear as possible.Just curious. You still see this question as relevant if the consequence was annihilation?

Choosing Which Eternal Destiny
Let's say that there are two possible eternal destinies for man (to avoid getting side-tracked) - either never ending life with God or never ending torment in the lake of fire. For God to be impartial and just to grant every man the opportunity for eternal life, could/would God do this if each perso...

Re: Needing some good books on prayer...
Amen from me Bart. I think this statement is especially food for thought - 'hope that God will be more gracious with them, than they are with others' and I think this we need to keep in mind with all our disagreements, big or small.

Re: Immortality - Conditional or Not ?
If God annihilated into non-being - He shows partiality as well as denies his gift of the type of life granted humanity – we were designed in accord of whose eternal image? An alternate view is that being designed in accord with the image of God does not state we are made immortal anymore than it m...

Re: Immortality - Conditional or Not ?
If so, the God would be guilty beyond all reasonable doubt of showing Partiality. Not so. God impartially will give the same chance for all to receive eternal life. So, there is lots of reason to doubt that this makes God partial. Does or would God ever Deny Himself? Fail in keeping his words or pr...

Re: Immortality - Conditional or Not ?
An alternative view - The immortal God does give us eternal life but He does this through the Gospel and this gift is 'without repentence', meaning He does not take it back. Man desires to be immortal and to live forever and seeks after immortality but this is because he is not immortal at birth. Th...

Immortality - Conditional or Not ?
Are we all created as immortal beings or does God give immortality only to those who believe ? There are scriptures that indicate that God alone is immortal - 1 Tim 1:17, 1 Tim 6:15-16 and that man is created as a mortal being Romans 1:23. And Romans 2:7 talks about immortality being sought after by...

Re: Question about the "rapture" or lack thereof
At this time Satan will have his last shot at deceiving all the souls which Christ and His believers taught during those thousand years. So, how does this 1,000 year period work ? Will people be born, live and die during this period ? Will they live normal life spans ? Will there be a resurrection ...

Re: Praying For The Lost
I suspect from your response that many if not most prayers you hear in church you don't approve of as they are not prayers right out of scripture ? Is this what you are saying ? It really is surprising to hear someone call this 'mumbo jumbo'. I support the idea of praying as we see prayers in script...
