Re: Long hair on a man
As an analogy, your mother probably taught you certain table manners as you were growing up - for instance, to eat in a certain way with a knife and fork. The use of a knife and fork is according to custom, in accordance with your culture. It has become natural for you to eat that way. But other cul...

Re: Long hair on a man
But why would it be a shame for a man to have long hair? How does nature teach us that? I have quoted further back here the following... How did nature teach that long hair dishonored a man and gave women a covering? Nature has not endowed women with more hair than men. In fact, if nature takes its...

Re: Long hair on a man
Hmm, just as I thought... wearing your hair short to "play it safe" is not the reason at all.

Re: Long hair on a man
Going back to that article I originally linked to, I think that the following bit sums up the situation quite well... Significance of This Text for Today's World The significance of this text for the twentieth century must be examined briefly. Am I suggesting that women return to wearing coverings o...

Re: Long hair on a man
Well, let me see... he's pretty resourceful, usually. Not bad on the wit. He might even manage an apologist's equivalent of a hole-in-one, but if he muffs it, I'd suggest as many chances as there are little hairs on those possibly bare legs of his. What do you say? Of course, I don't know how many t...

Re: Long hair on a man
Now Jen, we must give the lad a chance.
Who knows... maybe he does wear his First Century gear when riding his bicycle to work.
That would be quite a spectacle, don't you think?
FFC, you're missing from roll call again...

Re: Long hair on a man
Yep, it probably is fairly simple if we stop complicating things.
However, I'm wondering how FFC is going to justify his pick-and-mix approach to hair style and dress.

Re: Long hair on a man
FFC, you know jolly well that I don't have "authority" over you in the context that Paul was speaking of, that is, in the visible church. :P Indeed, I am your servant, just as you are mine. I will serve you by dumping your naughty posts in the garbage forum :pound: and you will serve me by...

Good one, Jen. A gold star for you! Now where's FFC got to? Missing from class? Truant again? That naughty fellow... Hmm, good points you made. I must go back and read it more critically again myself. Meantime, how about this for a response... Question 32: But doesn't Paul argue for a ...

Re: non-believers and believers
Christians have been given "the Great Commission" which is to go out and tell others about Christ, God's plan for our redemption. However, we are not to spread the Word aggressively, but in love for others, so that they may also come to know the Good News and accept Christ as their saviour...

Getting back to the original question... Anyone who is really serious about understanding this issue of gender and hair, the long and short of it, can find a most worthy answer right hair/here as long as they are not short of reading time. :D FFC, you have homework to do! :egeek: Jen, you too. Put t...

Re: Is there any thing in the Bible that suggests that a woman..
Kateliz, now you're getting the hang of it! What you are saying makes good Biblical sense to me. A mature Christian friend of mine, one who knows his Bible extremely well, has written to my website here the following comment: Concerning women teaching men, I am convinced that Paul's instruction caut...
