Re: Why aren't more women interested in...
I definitely have an interest but I'm only a beginner; I also don't have a very thick skin when it comes to online attacks, which men are maybe a bit tougher about. At least I don't get attacked here much.

Re: WLC and the moral argument
Ken, If you didn't say that Morality exists only in the mind, then I am sorry. I didn't mean to misrepresent your view. Yo use your examples and to make sure we are discussing the same thing in the same way: Morality: Objective - Stealing is wrong. Taking something that doesn't belong to you is wro...

Re: WLC and the moral argument
I watched a good video recently of William Lane Craig speaking on the case for Christian theism. He mentioned the difference between moral ontology and epistemology, which has been explained on here before in a way I found confusing - that epistemology refers to what is right and wrong, while ontol...

Re: WLC and the moral argument
Animals were created before and separate from people - read Genesis carefully. Do you not know anything about progressive creationism? Do I not know anything? Are you being sarcastic? As I said I don't necessarily believe in evolution myself; I'm still undecided about the creation method. I just th...

Re: WLC and the moral argument
OK, I just posted that and then a couple of minutes later turned on the TV news - this woman was talking about people separated from their tribes being in danger, leading to us being wired to feel anxious when we're alone. It was the usual thing about modern loneliness and encouraging people to conn...

Re: WLC and the moral argument
That basic morality is but a strategy for the good interactions of society breaks down when we consider that human nature is exceptionally selfish, and that those in power tend to not care what those they have power think or how they are hurt. Plus, the basics of right and wrong transcend to being ...

Re: Top Ten Myths of Bible Study by Dr. Mike Heiser
That sounds good. Having got into apologetics and Bible teaching videos recently I've got a few other ones I want to watch, but I'll try to get into some of those ones soon. I haven't checked the length of them but if they're under half an hour or so that would be good

Well, we had a reeeally long summer in Western Australia. Still having to use the air-conditioning in late April is a bit much.

Re: It's Official: Pope Changes Lord's Prayer Line
Indeed - I wouldn't be surprised if a few Bible translations put it as something more like 'do not let us fall'. I just looked up the New Living Translation and it says 'don't let us yield to temptation'.

Re: The Strongest Argument for God
Ken: C'mon Phil! Remember the scenario I gave about Halle Selassie? There are people who worship the Sun, Nature, I believe there was a story in your Bible about people worshiping a Golden Calf! Of course these things exist, but even you would agree they are not God. You seem to be making the commo...

Re: Possibility
Something doesn't need to be likely to be possible BUT it must be likely to be probable. Thanks - those definitions were what I thought, but I was having trouble understanding this contingency argument. It's from a Christian YouTuber who's into philosophy:- 1. Necessarily, every set of contingent c...

Possibility
I've been looking into philosophy a bit, but getting confused about the use of the terms 'possibly' and 'possible world'. One argument I read recently went from saying something 'possibly' had a non-contingent cause to more or less taking it as a given. And I'm not really sure what 'possible world' ...

Re: What should being Pro-Life also include?
A lot of people who are pro-life need to go deeper in their thinking, actions and responsibility than just being anti-abortion, to really see what else our pro-life sentiments might need to include - and this article addresses that: https://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2019/may-web-only/under-discu...
