Re: The new year

RickD wrote:If you're going to follow Jewish days, why aren't you following the Jewish calendar?
The idea that each day begins at sunset was established at creation so it isn't limited to Jews. The description of each day ends with the phrase "There was evening and there was morning."

The new year

A lot of people stay up until midnight on December 31. According to the Bible it isn't necessary to stay up this late. In the Bible a new day starts at sunset of the previous day. That means that the new year actually starts at sunset of December 31. It is possible to celebrate the new year without ...

Light affliction

Paul wrote, This light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:17-1...

Re: Rob Bell AFTER Hell

there is a problem with this however. the bible tells us that the dead "know not anything" Ecc 9:5 . tell me, what would be the point of eternal torment if they dont even know they are suffering? Read the context of that statement. For the living know that they will die, but the dead know...

Re: Rob Bell AFTER Hell

the punishment you describe here still does not fit with what the bible says. The bible says DEATH is the punishment, not eternal burning in hell or eternal darkness. But there is more than one kind of death. All of us will experience physical death unless we are still alive when the rapture takes ...

Re: The Science Behind GLOBAL Flood Claims Examined

Pattern wise, nobody has any actual evidence to offer. There is plenty of evidence of a flood. The earth is covered with fossils of living creatures that were buried in the flood. The reason this evidence isn't recognized is that most researchers don't believe the flood took place and they assume t...

Re: Melchizedek priesthood in Christianity

If this is the case, why isn't it clearly taught in the Bible? Jesus told his disciples they were to make disciples and baptize them but he never said anything about a Melchizedek priesthood.

Re: The Science Behind GLOBAL Flood Claims Examined

Why couldn't it be a regional flood ? I mean that is supported by the different cultures of that time talking about a regional flood taking place , plus to the ancient people of those times that region was basically the whole world . Makes sense doesn't it ? Since all the cultures that exist are de...

Ending abortion

One of the first commands God gave to Noah after he left the ark was one prohibiting murder. And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning: from every beast I will require it and from man. From his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man. Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man ...

Re: Christian Hedonism

The Bible speaks of two kinds of pleasure. There is the pleasure which comes from sin, which we can enjoy now but which will not last. There is the pleasure which will come in the end to those who put God first in their lives. We may have to wait before we can enjoy this pleasure but when it does co...

Re: What/Who causes natural disasters?

If humans hadn't sinned there would be no disasters, natural or otherwise. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set fre...
