Re: Shroud of Turin

Let's be clear about several things: 1) IF Jesus was killed, buried and resurrected, as per Scripture, then we KNOW such a burial shroud once existed, per the well-known protocols for First Century Jewish burials. We have no reason to expect that a common burial shroud would not have existed. So, if...

Philip wrote: And many of these same people are quick to criticize Christians and society because it doesn't do more to help support the poor with young children. Ed: And rightly so. If you're in favor of forcing a woman to carry a pregnancy to term then you'd damned well better have a plan for for...

Re: Shroud of Turin

"we may not ascribe to God anything nonsensical or irrational, or anything the contradicts his creation," and in common with Pope Francis, that God is not a "a magician, complete with an all powerful magic wand," but lets things "develop according to the internal laws with ...

FYI,

My farts smell like roses. y:D
Uh, I'd say by the time someone introduces a fart joke, the thread has gone WAY off topic! As for that comment, well, it really stinks!

Re: Abortion Law in Progress?

And remember, examples of abortion being necessary to save the mother's life, is really, really small. Doctors have a duty to save both lives. There is NO solution that will deter those mothers absolutely determined to kill their own babies - whether legal or not. If illegal, they'll just get a pil...

Re: Shroud of Turin

If the Sudarium was verified as linked to the shroud, then would you consider it reasonable to date the shroud further back in time rather than assuming a later time based upon the cross stitching? This, alone, is a no-brainer, because there is a known and FAR older date for when the Sudarium was f...

Re: Please pray for me

K: You talk of putting the past on the shelf, and praying to God to take your memories of such away... but is that really what is best? K, it's not that I pray for God to ERASE bad memories, but I pray to not be controlled by or to stay focused on them. To focus on them brings back chain-linked neg...

Re: Article: 50-Year Study Used to Assert Spanking Doesn't Work

Early and mid-60s, my dad used a leather belt on us boys. Then we graduated to a ping-pong paddle - which could be brutal. I think dad liked the light weight, wide-girth smacking surface, easy ergonomics, and the ability to generate quick heat build up from multiple, machine-gun-like licks. Fi...

Re: Catholicism Questions

Melanie: So Jesus was born with a propensity to sin like all of us? And that is the obvious implication of what it meant for Jesus to also be fully human. Of course, Jesus was also FULLY human. Meaning EVERY thing our human nature has cast upon us (that we inherited), HE had to also deal with. HOWE...

Re: Shroud of Turin

Yes, K is correct - I initially thought the shroud was just another (and well scientifically discredited) Catholic relic. But the incredible attributes and its many hidden and scientifically discovered/impossible to have been faked details very powerfully changed my mind.

Re: Abortion Law in Progress?

Well, Mel, a HUGE step in this, from the courts' role, should be to aggressively hold the fathers financially accountable - which often doesn't happen. And then many of these losers go off and impregnate and abandon another and another. I could care less about whomever is using abortion politics as ...

Re: Catholicism Questions

Maltz: I'm curious to, why is it thought Jesus had no original sin? We have a high priest that can relate to our fallen nature... NO human inherits Adam's sin, but ONLY his sin NATURE, due to the Fall. Humans are not born sinning, but born with the inevitability that they will, at some early point,...
