Re: Genesis Creation vs. Darwin's Macroevolution Myth

Tiktaalik was an animal created by God. It seems similar to a crocodile. But it was probably better suited to the earths atmosphere and water conditions of the time. From the evolutionary perspective, they made some assumptions within the evolutionary framwork that says - it was part of the transit...

Re: Genesis Creation vs. Darwin's Macroevolution Myth

The discovery of fossils is rarely very exciting, and although stages in transitions are discovered all the time, very few make it to the popular press. The discovery of Tiktaalik in 2004 is a case in point, and many people got the impression that it was the only half-fish half-amphibian ever found....

Re: Miracle of Lanciano

I've seen this before but can't say that anybody thinks much of it for both scientific and theological reasons. Scientifically, it may well be that there is a bit of blood and a bit of heart in the little capsule. There is, of course, absolutely nothing to suggest that it was ever anything else. The...

Re: Genesis Creation vs. Darwin's Macroevolution Myth

Sonofaletheia, could you please explain how geographical patterns explain evolution? I'm not sure how geology is related at all. For the record, I do agree with modern geological science. As for DNA, vetiges, etc. I believe there are valid explanations from a creationist perspective. Also, yes, the...

Re: Genesis Creation vs. Darwin's Macroevolution Myth

You say that all scientist agree that animal life came first - but where I have looked it is plant life that came first. I'm sorry I wasn't clear. Producers and consumers evolved more or less together in the oceans long before there was any life on land, so although plants were indeed the first eas...

Re: Genesis Creation vs. Darwin's Macroevolution Myth

Well, as I say, theology isn't really my field. Macroevolution, however, is, and it's not a myth. All I'm asking in this thread is, what precisely do creationists believe happened? And, by corollary, does it make sense? So far this post has mainly shown how Genesis is best interpreted in such a way ...

Re: Genesis Creation vs. Darwin's Macroevolution Myth

Hugh, for clarification, let me ask you a direct question: Do you believe Jesus was God in the flesh - and that He was crucified for the world's sins and was raised from the dead - and that all Christians' salvation depends upon that being a historical fact? And what view do you have of the Bible -...

Re: Genesis Creation vs. Darwin's Macroevolution Myth

I don't want to drift too far away from a scientific comparison between Creation and Macroevolution, between which I see very little difference, at least as far as the old earth creation model is concerned. But since you ask, the term redemption is an abstract noun and therefore figurative by defini...

Re: Genesis Creation vs. Darwin's Macroevolution Myth

Again, one must ask, what did Adam and Eve look like? Naked citizens of the present USA? Or almost indistinguishable from the not-quite-human hominids who preceded them? How do creationists think they differed, in appearance and behaviour, from homo erectus or its successors? There is reasonable evi...

Re: Genesis Creation vs. Darwin's Macroevolution Myth

I must say I'm sorry we seem to have lost Alter2Ego, whose interpretation of Creation is very different from that of both Philip and Ryanbouma. Forgive me if you're reading this, Alter2Ego, but I have often found that while the more extreme creationists are quite good are explaining what they don't ...

Re: Genesis Creation vs. Darwin's Macroevolution Myth

I think Dr Rana is the speaker on the video I mentioned. His version of progressive creation is so close to evolution as to seem indistinguishable in appearance, although I'm guessing his method by which those appearances occurred is different from the method I think was the cause.

Re: Genesis Creation vs. Darwin's Macroevolution Myth

Some interesting explanations; thank you. I'm afraid Hugh Ross's book (I always respect people called Hugh; can't think why...) isn't available in the UK, but "More Than A Theory; Revealing a Testable Model for Creation" is. Perhaps it's just a UK edition. Anyway I've ordered it. Interesti...

Re: Genesis Creation vs. Darwin's Macroevolution Myth

Thank you, both Philip and ryanbouma, for your ideas. I don't think Hugh Ross's version of Creation is the same as Ryanbouma's, so I'll attempt to ask ahout them separately. Although I haven't read Ross's book, I am loosely familiar with his Reasons To Believe site, but I'm afraid I see in its attem...

Re: Genesis Creation vs. Darwin's Macroevolution Myth

Hugh, I'm curious about the HOW of Creation as well. Most people on this forum are. But, respectfully, a CHRISTIAN, whether he be a YEC, OEC, Progressive, Theistic Creationist - whatever - to have credibility with both one's faith and how that is combined with his scientific outlook - he must addre...

Re: Genesis Creation vs. Darwin's Macroevolution Myth

I don't think Evolution is directly compatible with account of Creation as it appears in Genesis. I don't believe Genesis is a historical account of the early history of the earth. I think it is an inspired testament to man's relationship with God, and fortuitously has sufficient similarity to the e...
