Re: In case anyone's not clear about this...
From political historian Heather Cox Richardson's daily brief: Another of Trump's memos relies on the law that gives the Treasury Secretary leeway to delay tax filing and collection in case of disasters. Trump directs the Treasury Secretary to defer payroll taxes for workers making less than about $...

In case anyone's not clear about this...
"Eliminate the payroll tax" literally means "completely defend Social Security and partially defund Medicare." If those are programs that you and yours use or hope to use you might want to have a word with your elected representatives.

Re: Oh. My. God.
Numbers 1-4 have been widely reported. Number 5 is a conclusion based on numbers 1-4. But sure, Stu, it's all fake news.

Re: Ladies and Gentlemen, your President?
Given this is really a political pulpit for like Ed -- he's one of the only remaining consistent posters here who can inspire a response from others because of his views which cause aggitation and provokes a response (kudos to you for that Ed), and he can't be blamed if his interests are of a polit...

Re: Ladies and Gentlemen, your President?
K, I'm fine with admitting that Biden sometimes says dumb stuff, although I think that it's pretty dickish for the right wing media to try to use his stutter as evidence of mental impairment. Happy? Now watch the Axios interview, in which Trump literally defends the Russians when he's told that they...

Re: Ladies and Gentlemen, your President?
ALL of you guys need a hobby or something - cause the Trump / Biden debate around here has become beyond ridiculous! I have a couple of hobbies, actually. Posting here really doesn't take that much of my time. Especially because it has largely reduced our entire political dilemma down to the impact...

Re: Oh. My. God.
It was just a bit of hyperbole, actually, but it was rooted in a collection of facts. 1) Trump, Epstein, and Maxwell go back a long, long way. 2) Trump has an extremely questionable history with women. He's said things about his daughter that are really bizarre and unsettling, he's bragged about bar...

Regarding universal healthcare...
It turns out that the American insurance industry has been deliberately spreading misinformation about the quality of the Canadian healthcare system. Go figure.

Re: Ladies and Gentlemen, your President?
So Rick, I skipped to the first bookmark (the little yellow marks on the slider) and immediately ran headlong into a [nonsense] avalanche. YouTube Pundit Guy showed Trump claiming that he was about to unveil a new healthcare plan, then showed Joy Reid and Biden talking about Trump trying to take awa...

Re: Not to kick a dead horse, but come on!
So you’re saying that since we don’t know who’s positive and asymptomatic, who’s presymptomatic, and who’s truly negative, then just assume everyone is “potentially contagious”? Yep, that was the idea back in March when we all started locking down. It's not that big a deal though - just wear a mask...

Re: Not to kick a dead horse, but come on!
Anyone who is asymptomatic, not sick yet, not going to get sick, etc., are HEALTHY! And the healthy are being quarantined. I don't think we know enough about the virus to say for certain that asymptomatic people are in the clear, but I agree that they do seem healthy. That's not the point though - ...

Re: Not to kick a dead horse, but come on!
Ok, let me try it a different way. Abe, among others, has been making the argument that, most likely as part of a sinister plot, our medical and scientific experts insisted that the healthy be quarantined. They insist that that's wrong, because in the past people always quarantined the sick and let ...
