Re: Salvation from God’s point of view

The word metanoia does not have the word 'sin' intrinsic in its definition. The kind of repentance that is necessary for salvation is repentance of sin. If one has to perform, then how can they ever have security that they are really saved? Salvation will bring about a change in the way you live. B...

Re: Salvation from God’s point of view

I guess the best way to describe it would be to be sorry for your sins because they are wrong rather than simply being sorry for yourself because of the bad consequences you suffered as a result of your sins. I often hear definitions like this, but is this consistent with how a 1st century Jew woul...

Creation – what does the Bible actually say?

There are a lot of misconceptions about what the Bible says about creation. For example, many people think that the Bible says that God created the entire universe in six days. But is this really true? We need to take a careful look both at what the Bible says and what it doesn’t say. The first vers...

Re: Divine Command Morality

Abraham is asked to sacrifice his son, floods, massacres of tribes. These are good because God commanded it? Yes. God didn't allow Abraham to actually carry out the sacrifice; he was just testing him. And a God who is good must punish evil or he would cease to be good. Well, I doubt God has ever di...

Science against evolution

How did life come into existence? There are two possible explanations. One is that natural processes brought about the exitence of simple, single-celled organisms and its descendants evolved to produce all the forms of life that exist today. The other is that it was created by God. It is widely beli...

Salvation from God’s point of view

When we think or talk about salvation we usually mean the process of having our sins forgiven by repenting of them and putting our faith in Jesus Christ. From the human point of view this is what salvation is but from God’s viewpoint this is only one of several steps. The complete process is describ...

Re: Do we got straight to Heaven Or Hell something new to re

I would strongly have any person search the bible for the doctrine of "immortality of the soul" The Bible doesn't teach the immortality of the soul but it does teach that our souls are eternal and continue to function after the body has died. In fact, anyone who hasn't repented of his sin...

RickD wrote:Only two errors in YEC? or, are those the two that you find the most glaring?
I'm not certain these are errors. The Bible simply doesn't give enough information to determine whether or not the YEC position is correct.

YEC, OEC, or UAEC?

People who study the Bible disagree about how to interpret the creation account found in the first chapter of Genesis. They can generally be divided into two groups: those who believe the earth was created only a few thousand years ago and those who believe it is much older. Anyone familiar with thi...

Re: Do we got straight to Heaven Or Hell something new to re

When Jesus was dying he promised the repentant criminal that he would be with him in Paradise that day. When a believer dies he goes immediately to be with Christ. This isn't our final destination. The last part of the Bible describes the creation of a new earth which will be the final residence of ...

Re: Why dont we follow some of the Old testament commandment

God has given us different kinds of commands. There are moral standards that are universal and apply to everyone for all time. Jesus summarized them in two commands: Love God with all you heart and mind and love your neighbor as yourself. There are also commands that he has given only to specific gr...

Re: Family Guy

Many of the people who watch Family Guy have no knowledge of what Christianity is. It really isn't their fault if they accept what they hear as being true. I disagree, I do NOT go to cartoons are comedies to get "educated" about things. It doesn't matter why you are watching. Viewers are ...

Re: The bible. Should we it take it literally ?

The Bible is a revelation of the things God wants us to know. Many parts are a record of historical events and should be interpreted literally, just as we would interpret any other historical account. It uses figures of speech and parables that aren't to be interpreted literally and poetical parts, ...
