Re: Pro-Life: The Logical Stance Belief or Non-Belief

@jac

What you just said actually happens. If you don't take care of your children social services can take them away for good.

I am not saying that this the best scenario, but it does happen.

Re: Pro-Life: The Logical Stance Belief or Non-Belief

I will start first with the most important aspect: I am not pro life or pro abortion. I am quite puzzled to be honest because I think that each case is unique. But now coming back to what you guys have said. I am quite pragmatic sometimes and you might consider my view as cynical, but just consider ...

Re: Atheism: Belief or Position?

2. More generally, your question is just about the nature of generation. How can anything come into existence that did not at first? You didn't always exist. You came into existence when a sperm and egg met and became a new entity. You did not have the potential to exist for the same reasons I just...

Re: Atheism: Belief or Position?

Therefore, essentially ordered chains have to have an original cause powering everything, and when you break that argument down as Aquinas does, what we learn about that cause is that it must be Pure Act with no potentiality at all. Please explain me something. Let's assume that your above statemen...

Re: Can Atheism Stand On Its Own Two Feet?

Atheism is built upon the hypocrisy of beliefs it pretends to have, but ultimately cannot sustain.
If you disregard someone's beliefs from the start, why should they listen to what you have to say about your beliefs?

Do you think atheism is so simple as you have expressed it in your summary?

Re: Homosexual Marriage (aka digging up a hot-button topic)

@jac If other people want to waste their time with you, that's on them. I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to Paul. I don't try to explain to white supremacists why their position is wrong any more than I'm going to bother arguing with you about this, and that for the same reason: I don't waste ...

Re: Homosexual Marriage (aka digging up a hot-button topic)

Then why do we have so many human beings trying to bash other human beings in regard to this matter? Why is there so much hate for those who are different? Who don't go with the norm?

Re: Homosexual Marriage (aka digging up a hot-button topic)

@PaulSacramento There IS a norm in sexuality and the norm for humans is heterosexuality and ANY deviation of that norm is deviant sexual behaviour ( that is what the word means, to deviate from the norm). Do you know what sexuality is? You think that sexuality just simple refers to procreation? Real...

Re: Homosexual Marriage (aka digging up a hot-button topic)

Homosexuality does not happen in the animal kingdom, bisexuality does. Bisexuality includes homosexuality... Now you want to argue that animals also follow their mating instinct[heterosexual], an instinct that humans have learned to control... Ok... Well, that separates us from animals... A species...

Re: Homosexual Marriage (aka digging up a hot-button topic)

I haven't been here in a while and it seems that same things are discussed again and again especially when it comes to gay marriage. I have participated in this discussion before and just wanted to say a few things; some of them are related to this topic, some are more or less. 1) Muslim polygamy: a...

Re: Common fallacies that the apologist NEEDS to KNOW vol.1

@Daniel I ask questions. That's my way of doing things. If you are bothered by that, don't answer. The fact that I ask them again and again is because I do not think I have the right answer. @Dom I am sorry Dom, but I do not wish to continue this discussion further with you. You keep passing the bal...

Re: Open Science Discussin about GOD's Existence

You are not understanding the logic, two all powerful beings could not exist because then they would not be all powerful, it does not matter how they would interact with one another because as soon as another one exists by definition of the word they would not be all powerful because a power would ...

Re: Common fallacies that the apologist NEEDS to KNOW vol.1

Look Dom, I'm not going to argue with you anymore because there is no point in that. ***I have already participated in discussions on this forum about the gospels. All of them were written decades after the event and evidence is contradictory in establishing the real "writer" of any of the...

Re: Open Science Discussin about GOD's Existence

It is not an assumption it is logic, if there is a God who is all powerful there cannot be another all powerful God because if they cannot have an effect on the other one(s) then they are no longer all powerful. So if God is all powerful, then the logic dictates that there can be only one. I unders...

Re: Common fallacies that the apologist NEEDS to KNOW vol.1

Corrupt? You must be joking. The centurion, nor the soldiers in the company would have taken a bribe. Again, you show very little knowledge of roman military. The soldiers sent out to the outskirts of the roman empire had to be the most loyal ones of them all. I ask you, since this is evidently you...
