I just read the first half of your post more carefully, and it seems well reasoned. I'm assuming it came from the thoughts of Emanuel Swedenborg—would you care to provide a link back to the original material? I see that some of our differences center on defining 'substance' and 'person'. For now, I ...

Actually, just like the Apostles creed which is often recited by Christians as a testament to their beliefs, 1 Cor. 15:3-5 is also recognised as an early Christian creed that was said. To add something further, according to Habermas, many critical scholars believe that Paul received it from the disc...

Hi Harry, I don't want to assume anything, but it would be good knowing what general set of beliefs you hold to (e.g., whether it be that of Jehovah Witnesses, or Oneness Pentecostals). It sounds like the latter, and so I do not wish to debate the Trinity within this thread. Rather it was my intenti...

Something only someone who already knows the complete and true explanation could know. ;)

i'm pretty ignorant as to this stuff, but i thought that it was the work of a council and not just a single man? I'm misunderstood—it is within Athanasius' letter that all the 27 books of the NT we have today are identified as being canonical, although the books would have each been recogn...

It was not until 367AD, when Athanasius circulated his thirty-ninth Festal Letter, that we know the twenty-seven books of the New Testament had been officially identified as canonical based upon their widespread use and acknowledgement as authoritative.

Re: Is Mother Teresa in Hell?

Catholics believe in purgatory, and that such can be prayed for by the living to be less. However, according to my knowledge they do not believe that one can be prayed out of hell. No, Catholics do not beleive someone can be prayed out of hell. I'm certain of that. That's what I said. ;) Kurieuo.

Not trying to be presumptuous, my impression is that the Catholic church is not a proponent of ID. Obviously the Church does believe in a "designer" but it does not follow that proof of the design can be found in nature. [There wouldn't be much need for faith if a powerful enough microsco...

Re: Is Mother Teresa in Hell?

So far I have alot of philosophical problems with their doctrine of Hell. Is the idea also true with Christianity that someone can be prayed out of hell, like in Catholic doctrine? What do you think? Catholics believe in purgatory, and that such can be prayed for by the living to be less. However, ...

I think that for anything to be understood, it has to be understood in its context. Why does Christianity try to mask and hide the context??? And you would know Christianity tries to mask and hide the context because...? Have you pursued any Christian theology? I'm not sure you're in a position to ...

I'm afraid I don't see how that link even begins to verify the truth of Christianity- it merely raises ways in which Christianity may have attempted to be more successful. Obviously it isn't common for a religion to last as long as Christianity but some have lasted longer so it isn't on its own. I ...

My first post in this thread, and I must say I find it unfair that you simply quote from a book for your arguments expecting responses to whatever you quote on a board such as this. To bring out two guns, you say your more of a historian than a theologian, but I say you're more of a plagiariser than...

I'm not sure how to respond to that last comment, but I can't help but find it a bit elitist and assuming of God's desires of our world. If God wanted only Christians on Earth, then I don't think anyone could stop Him doing so. I also think that God loves all humanity—Christian and non-Christian ali...

Summer, Before tackling your main question, an issue raised within your post is that of the purpose of marriage. I believe marriage acknowledges and respects the whole design God set in place for us, which begins at the uniting of a woman and man. In New Zealand, I believe the government saw "m...
