Re: Sacrifice Controversy

The reason I pondered more Jlay and Paul is that if it was like what you say (i myself hold the same view). Why not write it so. why use the wrong words which give the wrong implication. To echo what Canuckster said, when we read ANY ancient writing we need to remember who it was written too and i ...

Re: Preterism Debate / Research

As with all things written in the bible, OT and NT, we have to regard who wrote them, when and to whom AND how did those that received the information view it. It's great to sit back in the 21st century and say this that and the other thing base don what we know, almost 2000 years later, but the pro...

Re: A view on suffering

A few things: Canukster, I agree, "The Shack" is an excellent read, if one can approach it with no preconceived ideas or at lest, limited preconceived ideas. It was instrumental and me finding my Lord. I agree with Neo and add this: For those that don't believe in God, the issue of suffering is not ...

A view on suffering

I wanted a honest opinion on this rather long winded view on the issue of suffering, thanks in advance :) There are perhaps no greater issues that rack a believer and “drive” people to atheism then the issues of why God permits evil and suffering in our world. While the issue of evil can be explaine...

Re: Sacrifice Controversy

I have read a few interpretations of this event and it depends if one views it as a literal and factual event that happened or if one may view it as a lesson, a parable like those of Jesus. A lesson to be very careful in offering things to God. Of course the story doesn't say that his daughter as bu...

Re: Will Creationists Admit They Are Wrong and Apologise?

I am a creationalist, I believe that God created the universe.
I believe the the process we call "evolution" was one of the methods that he used.
Like Dr.Collins and others, I am a "theistic evolutionist" but that still makes me a creationalist.

Re: Child with high IQ looks to disprove big bang

It is quite possible that the big bang never happend, though one would have to find a way or explaining the expanding universe and such. Of course the theories of mulitiple universes has been around for a bit, though that theory doesn't explain how THOSE universe came to be anymore than how ours did...

Re: "Natural" Evil

There is no evil in nature, not in the terms we think it.
When an earthquake happens in some remote corner and no one dies, is that EQ still evil? less evil?
The only evil we need concern ourselves with is the evil that WE DO.

Re: l Timothy issue

The issue of authorship of some ( for some all) of the pastoral letters is one that came into being because of textual critique and most that think that 1 and 2 timothy ( to speak of the Timothy letters only) were not authored by Paul , actually think that the letters were not ALL Pauls. There are d...

Re: Christian Universalism

I think that universalissim means that all will have the chance to be saved, Christ died for us all, for us all to have the chance to be saved. God's grace is given freely to Us all, what we do with it is up to us, right? If man has free will then he must be free to reject God's grace and reject God...

Re: Authors of the New Testament

I think if we look at it from only TWO POV we don't get the right picture at all. It's not a case of the bible being inerrant or not making it have value. The bible has value far beyond "simple inerrancy". The bible is a tool for us to find God, it points the way to God, it is vital, crucial and ind...

The evil we do to ourselves has NOTHING to do with God.
