Re: Is God a Moral Monster?

Please read Paul Coplan's book titled, "Is God a Moral Monster".

Taken out of context, yes, some of the acts attributed to God MAY seem horrific and genocidal.
But I guess I can also be asked based on WHAT moral grounds one would say that? ( If morality is subjective as atheist say it is).

Re: Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit

I tend to agree, Paul. But although a guy like Erman may have once believed or even recognized who Christ actually is, I don't believe he ever submitted / committed himself to and invited Him in / received Him as their Lord - which is a saving faith. His was likely a belief in Christ like the devil...

Re: Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit

Any denial of Christ and God when we KNOW them to exist, is blasphemy. Anyone that bares false witness against God when they know God to exist and God to be GOD, is blasphemy. Paul states that ONLY by the HS can we proclaim that Jesus is Lord so anyone that KNOWS that and then denies or speaks again...

Re: Does Suicide = Hell ?

Is suicide an unforgivable sin? If so, where does the Bible state this to be so? No. Biblically there is only ONE unforgivable sin and that is to blasphemy the Holy Spirit. Which is the cause of much scrupulosity. Doesn't this 1 sin boil down to rejecting Christ? Sure, and denying God when you know...

Re: My wife and I need prayers...

You and your wife are in my prayers. While I have never felt the need to be part of a church, I do understand that camaraderie and sense of belonging that being part of a church can give one. God is Our Church. All believers are the body and church of Christ. In any group there are good and bad, nee...

Re: Creation of information

The information is there, coded into the data. The coding is the same as in a FM radio where FM stands for frequency modulation. The brilliance of the star is modulated as a sinusoidal wave of brilliance variance and also by the number of photons. There is information in the data. If you have an ob...

Re: Creation of information

DB, let's discuss the example Cepheid variables. They are a class of stars with the nice property that their diameter and luminosity varies with time, 1-50 day period, and the period length is directly proportional to the mean luminosity. This makes them an important tool for measuring distances. I...

Re: Modern Humans Pre-Adam?

Add to that the reading of Genesis 1 and then 2 naturally leads one to see TWO distinct "creation" events. I have come to the view that Genesis 1 is about the creation of life on earth in GENERAL and that Genesis 2 is about the SPECIFIC creation of ( what would become)the lineage of Israel, ie: Adam...

Yes, but where are you going to draw the line at what constitutes abuse?
Well, the law already has that AND the law SHOULD be involved in any abusive relationship.

Re: A Prominent Theologian Changes His Mind!

One can argue that ANY act that is immoral ( including abuse of one that we have sworn to protect), can be just cause for divorce.
