Re: The Limits of Science
My two cents that I'll toss in, This might be a simple version of what some people have said so far, but one thing I've been thinking about is how science could be flawed because of its reliance on Occam's Razor. Scientists assume that the simplest explanation from our point of view is the correct ...

Neuroscientists have believed that three brain regions are critical for ...

Re: Theory of Evolution exposed
It is really important to remember that even the very basis of the Theory of Evolution, the term "species" is not fully defined ("The Species Problem"). Darwin himself was enthustatic about "solving the problem of species" with his new theory: if animals constantly &quo...

Re: Religion and Science Unification
Some additional arguments: Exact science is good for many things, mainly things which are measurable and can be experimentally tested. Exact science has limits. There are many things which cannot be measured or written down using mathematics. And these things are the most important things in life. I...

Why do good people suffer?
http://harmoniaphilosophica.files.wordpress.com/2012/07/2441371.jpg?w=423&h=291 This is one of the greatest problems that troubles philosophers around the world. (and one of the greatest arguments of atheists around the world...) Why do good people suffer? I think the problem can be solved if w...

Re: Gödel's proof for God...
The main premise which is in question in this proof is whether "existence" is a positive quality. Would you disagree with that? I disagree with almost every premise. Namely: Axiom 2: Any property entailed by—i.e., strictly implied by—a positive property is positive Axiom 3: The property o...

Re: Gödel's proof for God...
"IS there any "OBJECTIVE" criterion on which one can talk about the credibility of the logic of another person?" And the answer is NO. 'Logic' is one of those very slippery words that sound both credible and rational on the surface but surface is all that exists. 'Proofs' that a...

Re: The Limits of Science
How can science study phenomena which happen only ONCE? (e.g. the creation of the Universe) How can it study things which cannot be reproduced? Science can study such phenomena. But depends on what you mean by studying it. There may be leftovers for example. These "leftovers" could be imp...

Re: The Limits of Science
Mathematics is the most pure of sciences. If mathematics cannot prove "everything" within the scope of their axioms, the same applies for other less pure sciences which ALSO RELY ON AXIOMS. (and which also rely ypon logical methods, e.g. induction, to reach to conclusions based on premises...

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lWo9wbFsmI4/T5BOfE2BBbI/AAAAAAAADrI/-1ECANPV8vQ/s400/godel.jpg Gödel (who is considered the greatest logician after the founder of Logic, i.e. Aristotle), formulated a mathematical logical proof for the existence of God. It seems that believing in God can be based on logic...

Re: The Limits of Science
Exact Sciences use Logic every day to reach to conclusions. Logic cannot prove anything, as prove by Godel. PS. If mathematicians are not scientists, what are they? Einstein - General relativety rationalised by mathematical model backed by scientific method. "at the age of sixteen Einstein had...

Re: The Limits of Science
If you're referring to Godel's incompleteness theorem, you should note that this only applies to certain axiomatic sets not all. For instance, if you take addition, identity, and some other basic axioms across the natural numbers, every true statement will be accounted for in this set by the axioms...
