Re: Presuppositional apologetics method...

From original thread post - Now then, I'm scared that many Christians who swear by presuppositional apologetics may misuse it in such a way and almost use it as an excuse for not giving good reasons (whether it be scientific, historical or philosophical evidences and arguments) for their belief. I'm...

Re: What If God Had Answered Jesus' Prayer

Regarding this thread's question, I wonder if this request by Jesus is a reflection of His human side that appeals to the Father to not sentence someone who doesn't really understand what they are doing. He didn't say or add to His request - 'If it be your will' as He prayed in the garden when He en...

Re: Immortality - Conditional or Not ?

We should never forget that it was the Lord Jesus Christ, more than any other, who enunciated the doctrine of everlasting torment for the lost. Wrong ! But I see this traditional view still feels threatened. And it should. God is not into endless torture as clearly revealed throughout scripture. As...

Knowing God's Voice

Jesus said John 10:27 - 'My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me'. John 18:37 - 'Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice' and Revelation 3:20 ‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him,...

Re: Discussion: Christianity vs. other religions...

When it comes to how difficult it appears for some to accept the Gospel, I'm reminded of what Jesus said in Matthew 19 about how hard it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Going back to the Aramaic (the Aramaic word gamla means rope and camel), it could be translated 'it is easier for...

Re: Discussion: Christianity vs. other religions...

One of the reasons why I believe prayer is so important in the process is that when I pray for God to bring salvation to someone, I am recognizing my own inability to save someone myself. And if I then allow myself to be lead by the Spirit, then God alone knows the heart of each person and He can gu...

Re: Discussion: Christianity vs. other religions...

Personally, I don't think one goes about shopping for a religion that seems to have the best appeal to human reasonings. Christianity to the unbeliever is foolishness and it requires the illumination of the Holy Spirit to our thinking to accept that the Gospel is fact and truth. There is reasoning i...

Re: Immortality - Conditional or Not ?

The following quoted artitical below should be considered before listening to Fudge And then read Glen Peoples response to Peterson, Peterson's response and finally Peoples again as they disagree. I find that quite often that traditionalists are so locked into what they have been taught that they c...

Re: Immortality - Conditional or Not ?

No one has to fear looking into what the scriptures really do say regarding endless torment. It seems fear tactics are quite embedded in this traditional view even in attempting to maintain it. One of the oldest tactics used is the one saying that various cults also support the 'A' view. I suppose t...

Re: Immortality - Conditional or Not ?

And for those who are not stuck on tradition and may want to consider that the traditional view may be quite in error as it does not reflect the God that others believe is described in scripture - try taking Fudge's quiz - http://www.edwardfudge.com/hellquiz.html#1 Here is a testimony of one who con...

Re: Immortality - Conditional or Not ?

However, do their interpretations actually line up with how God reveals character and nature objectively within the bible? Yes, they sure do. Actually they are much more reflective of God's character as reflected in scripture and in the life of Jesus than the traditional view of hell. That is one r...

Re: Immortality - Conditional or Not ?

Well Sudsy you have convinced that exterminating into non-existence is the best most absolutely superior from of Love and Mercy around. Thankyou, you finally get it. ;) So superior in fact that we should implement the same acts on those that suffer and begin mirroring this most superior act of love...

Re: Immortality - Conditional or Not ?

Holes, holes, holes, the traditionalist's arguments are chucked full of holes. I'm looking forward to that day when all pain and all types of suffering and death and hell and every form of evil will be no more. I won't be looking down on my poor, unsaved loved ones and approving of their endless tor...

Re: Question about the "rapture" or lack thereof

Yes that helps a great deal. Is there a label for this belief and/or what Christian faith group do you know teaches this ? I find it very interesting and will look into it further. It does reflect a fairness that other beliefs I have heard does not appear to offer. Glad you shared this !

Re: Believer Good Deeds, Unique ?

Proper exegesis, I think, is one of most overlooked essentials to Chrsitian teaching and training today. And we have various, differing methods all called 'proper exegesis'. I have yet to find one that is proof that it will reveal the truth on every matter. I think some of the scriptural support us...
