Re: Is coming to Jesus and being saved simple?

That's why when I look at remarkable, exemplary, influential Christians down through history, what amazes me is how God picked a certain - and often, unlikely - person to work through. Moses and the prophets wouldn't have been particularly effective or remarkable without God working through them. Ac...

Re: Is coming to Jesus and being saved simple?

Putting trust and faith in someone else is always the hardest thing. That is why, for some, it is easier to believe in "works" based salvation and a "laundry list" of things to do to "earn" salvation. Yep - there wasn't too much time for the saved thief to do any "...

DB: mankind's spiritual genesis began with

Yes - the line from Adam to Christ. But what of those that may have been created far before - per the Heiser speculation? It certainly doesn't necessitate that ALL of mankind were homo sapiens sapiens - does it?

Re: Neanderthal Art 110,000 Years Old?

One question I have is, do we too narrowly, genetically, define the range of humanity.

Re: Is coming to Jesus and being saved simple?

Look at the simple statements of the saved thief crucified next to Jesus. In front of God / Jesus, his words speak acknowledgement of his sin; He truly believes Who Jesus is (God!), by noting the Heavenly Kingdom to come was that of Jesus and that He was without sin; See the contrast as the unrepent...

Re: Is coming to Jesus and being saved simple?

At the end of the day, it is so simple that a child can be saved.

I came to belief at age 7 - I didn't know much, didn't know the cost, didn't really understand how bad god views sin, etc. - but I knew enough an truly believed and desired Jesus, committed myself to Him.

Re: Billy Graham

I went to one of Graham's crusades, somewhere around 1987, but I don't remember much about it. I once met an ex-heroin addict who said he was saved during one of Billy's crusades. I've worked with hurricane relief with his son's disaster relief agency, Samaritan's Purse - which was an amazing experi...

Re: Remember: "Legal Pot Will Prevent Crime and Be Taxed!"

Well, ALL of the states did not legalize it. And thus illegal sales boomed in other areas, not to mention the evasion of the taxes it was supposed to produce. And it's a no-brainer that use has skyrocketed. But yes, you can make murder legal, and suddenly there is no murder as a crime. Geesh. My poi...

Re: Remember: "Legal Pot Will Prevent Crime and Be Taxed!"

It's only logical that by legalizing marijuana, that would reduce crime. You clearly didn't read the article! It just spreads the crime out - particularly with the cartels (that no longer have to worry about getting their product across the border - so FAR easier), and smuggling to yet-illegal stat...

Billy Graham

Billy Graham's death got me to thinking about his impact. He certainly was human, made mistakes, got involved too close to some politicians. However, I'm curious as to how he was viewed outside of America. And how Catholics view him? My wife's family is Catholic - they never discuss Jesus, the Bible...

Re: Do Reformed Christians Need to Embrace Six-Day Creation?

My understanding of the Reformed Mantra goes something like... "By Grace Alone Through Faith Alone In Christ Alone" The Reformed mantra goes FAR beyond that - offering God's grace only to a select number who cannot resist or choose it - in which salvation is a done deal made by God long b...
