Re: The Delusion of "Free Will"

JustHuman: Well, it probably won't work, but I'm trying to rationalyze from a realistic point of view how things could work if God and His theistic universe would be true. Some things talked about here seem to me outdated, even unrealistic. At some points religion and it's science try to hold on an...

Re: Most Influential Person in History

The criteria the list was based upon is the IMPACT - whether good or bad - that each of these individuals had, per what the historical data has shown concerning their impact upon society and the world.

Most Influential Person in History

Stumbled across this list - Time Magazine put out a data-driven list of the "100 Most Significant Figures in History" - was both surprised and not surprised at the #1 most important one - with Napoleon coming in 2nd place: http://ideas.time.com/2013/12/10/whos-biggest-the-100-most-signific...

Re: The Delusion of "Free Will"

JustHuman: If I change into something else, it's not me anymore. What responsibilty will that 'new me' have towards it's 'old me', regarding that previous life? I mean, 'me' is who I am. Of course, ALL who are given an identity and a personage to be born into are both created unique, and will be so...

Re: The Delusion of "Free Will"

JustHuman: Am I wrong that God's kingdom doesn't last forever? That all the saved souls will 'end' sometime? Truly, truly die? Absolutely wrong! ALL people will live forever - those saved via faith in God/Jesus will forever live in Paradise - the (still-to-come) restored/new earth and heaven merged...

Chicagoland!

Is Chicago on the brink of being the U.S. Venezuela? What policies are not working that they should change? If it gets bad enough, could the Feds take over? Detroit's in a similar boat. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/06/20/illinois-careens-into-financial-meltdown-and-not-even-lottery-is-safe.h...

Re: Leftist Propaganda has intended consequences:Shooting

Ed: Good post, Phil, but Rick is right. Political violence is as old as politics. You even referenced an example when you mentioned that play. Julius Caesar was stabbed to death by men who feared his political power. My point is, that we've long had coarse political accusations in all manner of pol...

As far as I know homosexual means between members of the same sex, not being specifically human Little history of the word (from Wikipedia): The word homosexual translates literally as "of the same sex", being a hybrid of the Greek prefix homo- meaning "same" (as distinguished f...

Re: Leftist Propaganda has intended consequences:Shooting

A) Regardless of influences, I'm sick of excuses that this or that entity made people so angry they just had to do acts of violence. Such people (ones committing such acts) don't care about much about right and wrong - they care about venting their rage. And they are often willing to commit the very...

Re: Gap Theory

ACB: You are OK with evolution even though it is a lie.So it is not so important to you to see it go away. ACB, of COURSE I don't agree with evolution - I'm a PE guy. But the issue isn't, "We should embrace GAP theory because it refutes evolution. GAP is either true or not - despite what evolu...

Re: Gap Theory

Nicki: I don't like using the KJV as much as modern versions because it's written in 400-year-old English and can be hard to understand. Plus, scholarship accrues - there is substantially more information, knowledge and scholarship available to modern translators, as opposed to what was available t...
