James Hannam's God's Philosophers is a nice read on the impact of Christianity on the development of modern science.

If not God, my I ask how Buddhism fills the vacuum of a non-physical reality? Your venture into Buddhism seems to suggest that you ventured out. So what say you about such matters? Take up consciousness. Do you think it makes sense to say something like from physical, physical things come. And from...

But animals don't seem to adhere to that "be kind to animals" way of thinking, do they? Carnivores MUST eat other flesh. It's what they were designed for, what they are equipped for, what they must do to survive. Ever notice those canine teeth we all have? Are we to deny our evolved past ...

Re: Christianity decreasing
I don't think the non-physical necessarily implies God. But I think it needs something other than the ToE to explain it. Or at the very least, I think the existence of the human mind, implies purpose. The plan went well, I achieved all three of my goals! Not made a great deal of progress on the min...

Re: The evil within us
Good point FL, I waded through an old book I found in a charity shop last year titled 'The Objective of Morality'. After gaining little, towards the end of the book he brought up religion to note that if religion is taken into account there is little common ground. It's not just a different viewpoin...

Re: Christianity decreasing
RD, you simply assert that the mind is non physical, then walk away when challenged. Id say that may be the best move. Audie, I realize my mistake now. I assume dualism to be true. And it seems you disagree. That's why this is going nowhere. If you don't believe in God(a non-physical existence), th...

Re: Evidence for theistic evolution
Gnosticism & Marcionism are all that spring to mind, I imagine there are others but I'll grant the idea is not exactly mainstream in Christianity. It's the sort of stuff that was in dispute during the 100 years or so between Jesus appearing on earth and an organised religion being founded around...

Re: Simplicity Book FINISHED!
I read part one a few days ago, took a break and will likely read part one again before pushing forward. It's more of a one page forward, two pages back sort of book. Thanks for taking the time to put this together Jac, it's appreciated.
