Re: Evolving from Simple to Complex?

Now, back to Science. I think Kurieou and I at least follow each other's thinking for which I am grateful, but I continue to be puzzled by Mazzy. The question then becomes whether 1) God works in a predictable manner, according to the rules of the world with which we're familiar that he controls at...

Re: Genesis 9:5

While one can say Scripture is inconclusive, I find it interesting the doors are open to such a view and can't be closed. That is, a belief such as nature, or creation, having a consciousness of its own. When carried through to a different topic, such as why "natural evils" are in the wor...

Re: Genesis 9:5

Jesus must have appeared a bit wacko rebuking the winds and sea causing the storm to stop, I mean can you picture anyone else doing that and not being considered a freak? I think some will be surprised when they see trees and rivers clapping their hands, mountains and hills singing before the Lord....

Here's a related thread Nessa started not too long ago: Will there be animals or creatures in heaven?

Re: Mediate or Immediate? God Forming Us In Our Mother's Womb

You raise another interesting issue. Yes, it raises different questions at different levels, I think are good to consider and think through. Such makes it quite difficult to answer, more than what I first thought when posting the question. For example, I did change my answer from "mediate"...

Re: human/ape similarity

Why'd God make us similar to apes? This is directed to those who accept we came from apes and those who don't. We did NOT come from apes. Apes and humans share a common ancestor. Same building blocks, that's all. I remember now that we had a primate ancestor that apes and hominids branched off of, ...

Re: human/ape similarity

Why'd God make us similar to apes? This is directed to those who accept we came from apes and those who don't. A question is sometime answered best with a question back, especially since we do not know "the mind" of God. Why, did Jesus change water into wine. Read John 2:1-11. Jesus reque...

Re: Mediate or Immediate? God Forming Us In Our Mother's Womb

I didn't know Geisler said that. I'd be interested in reading why he feels that way. Re: Geisler, in Explaining Biblical Inerrancy: Official Commentary on the ICBI Statements (2013) it has: ARTICLE XIX WE AFFIRM that any preunderstandings which the interpreter brings to Scripture should be in harmo...

Well, I just changed my response from "mediate" to "immediate" based upon a reminder from Hugh re: the ontology of the universe and what we see as "natural processes".

Re: Evolving from Simple to Complex?

So, if what I say differs from somebody else's idea of what a Theistic Evolutionist is, then never mind. Where I think I differ from your definition above is in the current, immediate behaviour of God. I would put more emphasis on the words underlined below, and see the whole sentence as being a bi...

Re: Trump: Get over it already. Move on.

POTUS is perhaps one of the most important positions in the world. So, I care so-far-as who gets elected, especially when you had who I considered such an evil in Hillary Clinton. And, I still follow what's going on. But after that, opening rather pointless threads, whining and squabbling over matte...

Re: Mediate or Immediate? God Forming Us In Our Mother's Womb

I just wanted to gauge what people think in one instance versus the other, since I'm re-evaluating my own thoughts on what is acceptable or unacceptable so-far-as Scripture is concerned regarding evolution. I've never really seen much of a Scriptural case made by TEs, except just stating a verse her...
