Re: The Delusion of "Free Will"

No, I don't think trusting in Jesus, or in God, is THE only way into heaven. It might be living like the way He taught, or living like the idea behind His way, and maybe that includes trusting too. And gold is a physical material, that does not exist in a metaphysical world. Have you ever thought o...

Recent issue in Australia, for example (about 1-2 mins in).

PS. Perhaps more meaningful to Aussies here.

Re: Wow, maybe there is hope for free speech

In Australia, free speech is often squelched. Many who'd be called "left" in US terms, are often unapologetic and say we as a nation have no consititution which protects speech, some speech ought to be silenced and not had. I can see many in the US who'd be identified as left of field desi...

Re: Are My Actions Determined?

It seems that homosexuality does occur amongst domesticated sheep: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexual_behavior_in_animals . I can't verify that though! The issue is determination. When two male chimps ( since activities like this have been observed and reported) sexual stimulate each other,...

Re: Are My Actions Determined?

There is really no such thing as homosexual, bisexual, heterosexual or the like. These are terms invented by humans and ascribe certain exhibited behaviour. Humans like to box things in, box people in with labels, especially since the dark shroud of behaviourism came to dominate much of psychology i...

but am angry at evil not on God I felt similar when my Grandad passed away, and Grandparents passed away recently, though your relationship with your husband would have been closer. It's alright to be angry, especially when evil takes and robs you. (John 10:10) Know even if you misdirected your ang...

Re: Did God Create Satan?

God created Satan, a free creature who then willfully came into his own possessing enmity against God. God was direct in creating what Satan is, but God was indirect in creating who Satan became. Satan had no power to create what he is, but direct power over creating who he became. It is important t...

Fundamentalist Christians are ok. She said, "Fundamelislist" Christians are dangerous.

PS. Welcome back Mel (don't be too hard on yourself you "fundaMELislist").

Re: Bernie Sanders: Being a Christian Should Disqualify from Office???!!!

Bernie had a point. Our government is secular, and it's reasonable to question whether a person who goes to the trouble to publicly state that Muslims are damned to Hell would treat all citizens equally. Actually, your US government, like Australia's isn't secular. If the government is meant to ser...

Re: Bernie Sanders: Being a Christian Should Disqualify from Office???!!!

Hortence - no army has ever marched under the banner of atheism. K - So it's whining to point out that skeptics literally were persecuted in the US? I think it's a reasonable counterpoint to an obviously absurd, but irritatingly common, conservative Christian talking point. Yes. Phil just posted a ...

Re: The Delusion of "Free Will"

Many talk about God's plan, that He has some sort of plan for us humans, to which we are (ultimately?) 'bred' into this world. How about God wants that desired result by an evolutionary process? He lets our will roam freely (in our void) until it reaches itself to the desired result. Maybe sometime...

Re: Are radical Muslims a minority?

Damn it... Here's the thing - I don't know much about Islam, and what I do know is history, not religion. Reading between the lines of the comments here, I don't think you guys know much about Islam, either. Those of you who claim to seem to have gotten your information from anti-Islamic propagandi...
